The ‘ANTI’ saga continues.
Thanks to a calculated (and commendable) game of sponsored smoke and mirrors, Rihanna‘s latest album hasn’t crashed and burned as some had expected.
However, sales of the LP have aren’t blazing and the addition of physical units (following its digital only arrival) don’t look to be helping the matter.

According to Hits Daily Double, the second sales week estimates for the ‘Work’ led project are…
40,000 – 45,000
The number rises to 65-70k when the new Sales-Plus-Streaming scheme is factored in.
Make no mistake, the figure isn’t “bad” and definitely doesn’t spell complete doom and gloom. It is, however, alarming.
Like, at this rate, how much more sales-wise does Team Rih expect to be able to squeeze out of the album? Will it be a consistent seller and continue to rack up #’s or flutter then fade? Time will tell.
Looking at it from another angle, the reality is that Platinum has been the glass ceiling most Rihanna records manage to just about touch. Hence, by way of Samsung, it looks as if Ms. Fenty has done what’s needed to satisfy her own commercial standard and is punching right on to where the real coin is at – the touring circuit. Although, for her, even that looks to be tricky terrain. But that’s another day another conversation.

This is Rihanna’s most cohesive album to date and I’ve LOVED every minute of listening to it.
In the 11 years of her career thus far, she’s been a consistent seller and has delivered ma plethora of hits and iconic moments of which have defined her as one of the BEST pop stars of her generation (Black or White) but it seems as if now she is in the midst of a little setback but not to worry… EVERY POP STAR faces this somewhere down the line… she’ll pick herself back up again. Hopefully her next album will be more of a fast seller. ANTI is a Great album and at least she scored her 2nd #1 album.

After she finally got a #1 album with “Unapologetic”, it seems like she’s been trying too hard. She had 3 years to create a masterpiece… but instead we get a lackluster album, with only one or two bops. All of her previous albums are filled with bops. What’s the problem?… Is it Tidal? Is she trying to outsell Beyonce, Adele, etc…? Whatever it is, this era is already done. Hopefully her next one isn’t as bad as this.

The only track that I like is Kiss it Better. Liked Work too until I found out that she literally smoked a pack of cigarettes before recording the track.

I think Rihanna should just use Roc Nation for management purposes rather than a record label as they do not know to handle putting a album campaign together for their artists.

Samsung made out like a bandit, but Rihanna ultimately didn’t. Now Rihanna (not Samsung) is the one who has to live down an underperforming album, see it lower her market value, and will be tasked with trying to overcome it. MJ would have never made a deal like this.

I honestly didn’t think I was going to like the album, based on what’s been said about it. But, I sat and listened to it last last, and surprisingly, I like it! It’s definitely different from her previous albums. But, that’s what I like about it. “Kiss It Better” (sounds like something Prince would do),”Consideration”, “Needed Me”, “Same Ol’ Mistakes” and “Love On The Brain” (which has a nice old school Etta James vibe to it), are the standouts for me. That’s why I can’t always go by critics. I like to check things out for myself. I like that she’s not afraid to try new and different things with her music.
Samsung already took care of her so I personally didn’t feel the need to go out and buy it. I have zero respect for the way she tried cheating the sales system. It was BS.
