New Song & Video: Bruno Mars – ’24K Magic’

It’s been four years since ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ rocked radios across the world, but now it appears stageblazing divo Bruno Mars is locked, loaded, and ready for a redo.

Getting the party started with his new single ’24k(arat) Magic,’ the funk-doused tune is dipped in every drop of infectiousness as his signature hit ‘Uptown Funk.’  While we wait to see if it does as much damage on the charts as it will undoubtedly do on the dancefloor, tuck in below to hear ‘Magic’ – the first single from Bruno’s third album (in stores November 18).

Mars has hit it out of the park once again!

Easily an older sister to ‘Uptown Funk,’ ‘Magic’ lives up to its name and borrows some of the elements that made ‘Funk’ great (see:  retro vibe, 80’s-inspired) without being a rehashed version of it.

Simply put: if you can’t get with this right here, you literally have no pulse!  This thang is rockin’ from the press of the play button.  Go Bruno!

Im lovin this joint! Gives me that old skoo 80’s vibe!

    • Maurice October 6, 2016

i’ve never been able to get into this guy’s music.
I keep coming back, waiting for him to ‘WOW’ me, but.. meh.
Uptown Funk similar vibe is what he’s going for now. Surprised? No.

      • Ughhhh October 6, 2016

Fix yo face! This is ? fire ?!!! I’m am so happy to hear this man’s voice again!! And unlike many artist right now he is having fun in his video! Don’t be mad that Bruno is trying to wake you all up from Gaga’s bedtime lullabies.

      • LISA LEVINE October 7, 2016

Bruno is without doubt the Man with the best pipes on the charts. His vocal range is incredible. However, he has yet to make a song that touches the soul. Did it TAKE HIM SO LONG TO DO THIS RECORD BECAUSE HE WAS ON PROBATION FOR HIS DRUG CHARGE (of course caught in the “male” bathroom with another man in a stall doing dope)…..or was that swept under the rug.

      • JOHNVIDAL October 7, 2016

        Ughhh
You´re so obsessed with Lady Gaga´s talent it is painful. Both Bruno and Gaga are mad talented. To be honest Gaga is offering new and Bruno isn´t if you want to go there. Don´t be mad and enjoy real talent.

    • ? October 7, 2016

Nail in the coffin for that gaga trash

      • Bwash October 7, 2016

such trash. he found a sound that gave him a hit and hes going to run it into the f****** ground. As soon as i heard the retro beat drop i was done….like damn be MORE DARING

  2. Surprise..(DEC 2013) October 6, 2016

Nah….this sounds like UPTOWN FUNK’S older cousin. Wished he did something different and changed up his sound a bit. Cool video, but damn does BRUNO look so old. Can’t believe he just turned 30..

    • BeyKnowlesBest October 6, 2016

I’ve always heard he has an issue with nose candy, if you know what I mean. maybe that’s why he looks older

      • Trose October 7, 2016

        Lmao nose candy tho

  3. HailLegendBeysus October 6, 2016

Their goes everyone’s possible #1 for the next couple weeks! This shít is FIRE!!!!

  4. BeyKnowlesBest October 6, 2016

he tryna come for the weekends new song..may the best Gurl win

    • Fancy BISH October 7, 2016

lol, Bruno made this song hater proof…how can you NOT like it? Sugarhill Gang’s Rapper’s Delight (1979) is definitely a sample…hotel, motel, Holiday Inn lol..he played with the chords and rhythm patterns just enough so you feel like you’ve heard it before, but it still sounds fresh…if I had to say a reference song for the feel, it would be S.O.S. Band’s Just Be Good To Me (1983)…SMASH lol

  5. TheHills October 6, 2016

    Flops

    • Bwash October 7, 2016

Idk why but im not here for the fake retro macho s***. Its so manufactured. If bruno mars was black and made these type of records he would never sell. Although personally i love songs like this but i feel bruno is over doing it with all these songs that are starting to sound the same

  6. Kwinzy October 6, 2016

Bruno’s really goin’ in on that 80’s funk. SOS Band, Midnight Starr… It’s like he’s channelling the artists who didn’t get their big break back then. Here for it.

    • Fancy BISH October 7, 2016

      EXACTLY!

  7. Chileplease October 6, 2016

It definitely reminds me of uptown funk. It’ll be a hit.

  8. Grapejuice fan October 6, 2016

    This ain’t it

  9. Tori October 6, 2016

Now, I’m probably the biggest Bruno Mars fan but now man, you missed it. It sounds like he’s chasing Uptown Funk or at least this was recorded around the same time and he’s just been holding it for now. If this was going to be a hit, it probably would’ve been this summer but why release it now, it doesn’t feel right. I now I did NOT wait all this time for THIS!!!!!!

    • Surprise..(DEC 2013) October 6, 2016

      Exactly…..he should do something different.

    • Kwinzy October 6, 2016

I think it’s for 80’s funk heads like myself. But as much as I like The vibe it’s still formulaic. Uptown Funk was a huge ass record so I see what his team is doing; they want that gwap!

    • Tori October 7, 2016

Kwinzy, then this should have been a second single or a buzz song before release week. Why would you introduce your next album with the sound (and look, judging by the cover art) of something you’ve already done? Regardless of money, this could turn ppl off or fail to capture their attention because it’s nothing new, in a way they could lose a lot more money chasing Uptown Funk cause that ship has passed by. Bruno last album was a unique masterpiece that combined pop, edm, r&b, soul, blues, with a big band sound (that no one really uses), rock and that’s what set him apart. It was different even from his own previous music, this is a step back.

  10. mr.m October 6, 2016

Am tired of everyone’s doin 80’s vibe dance songs
Bruno gurl .. u better give something else. original.
cause if your album sounds like this? am packed

  11. Kwinzy October 6, 2016

I here a little Chromeo in there too!

  12. #Nicole Nation October 6, 2016

Bruno has come to slay and block that gaga!

    • Rima October 6, 2016

      Blocking Beyonce, Rihanna, and Ariana.

      • HailLegendBeysus October 6, 2016

Damn bitxh does Bey ever leave your fuxking mind? Lay off her already. Gaga a flop, deal with it in the comment section of PI like the rest of the suicidal little monster’s!

      • Rima October 6, 2016

She’s a legend performing at Superbowl in a couple months.
The last thing I care about is the charts that Bey is hardly on.

      • Datredd23 October 7, 2016

Didn’t she pay to perform though? Lol Rih would never darrrling

      • JOHNVIDAL October 7, 2016

LOL If she paid so did everybody else then. In what world do you live in? Hater!

      • HailLegendBeysus October 7, 2016

@R***** Oh you definitely care for single success otherwise your bitxh ass wouldn’t feel the need to comment about it 24/7!
        .
FadGa is anything but a legend. Legends don’t fade into oblivion 4 year’s into their careers LMFAOOOO!!!

  13. Rima October 6, 2016

    Its ok

  14. iSpeakTruthNoFallacy October 6, 2016

He legit used the exact same formula as Uptown Funk, and that doesn’t show true artistry and growth. There’s nothing new or inventive blended with the 80’s sound here but just a knock off Cameo’s Word Up infused with some Rick James. Even the damn video is the same just shot in Vegas. I don’t see this song being the smash hit remotely close to UF. Now while I STILL listen to Unorthodox Jukebox, I’ll definitely be eager to hear the entire album with my blunt in hand. I’ll give the song a B- and the video a B.

    • Bwash October 7, 2016

LEGIT. THE EXACT SAME. He hasnt DARED to dry anything different. Not once. Im not here for it. If bruno was a black man this song wouldnt go number one. Same as if JT sung it.

  15. Harambe October 6, 2016

Here we go, the same formula over and over again. What’s new? Boring. Next!!

    • Dem Lessers October 7, 2016

Tell them Harambe!!! Should’ve been him receiving that bullet instead of you.

    • Mariah Carey October 7, 2016

Hello Ciara dahhling! How are we today?

  16. #Nicole Nation October 6, 2016

It does suck that there are only 9 songs on the album! Bruno is pulling a Babyface! I hate that, you wait all these years for an album and only 9 songs. Babyface did that after a 10 year wait!

Good thing he isn’t releasing it on the 25 though, October and November are looking to be good months for hip hop/r&b. Gucci, Jeezy, DJ Paul, David Banner, Game, Bruno, Weeknd, Joe, JoJo, I can’t even deal with it!

And I don’t think there’s any other albums worth checking for for October, I wish there was something good dropping on Oct 21 but sadly no.

  17. #Nicole Nation October 6, 2016

BTW Eric Benet’s new album is out and it’s better than ever, go support him!

    • cocobutta October 7, 2016

That man can SANG but so many got turned off him cus of Halle Berry thing.
Bit of a shame as his voice melts in the ears

  18. Bravo!! October 7, 2016

Bruno mars look good when he dances

  19. ???????Chile, take this “Itty Bitty Piggy” to the market and make sure you hold her hand while crossing the street!??????? October 7, 2016

I’m not here for the song, although the chorus is catchy and infectious. Honestly, he could’ve kept all that unnecessary profanity, but I do appreciate him utilizing a great deal of black women in the music video, unlike most male artists of color. OK sure this single will go to #1 instead of The Weeknd’s. Abel must be pissed. Lol.

  20. FASHION_ICON ~ Anti&Lemonade October 7, 2016

I will buy the album …good s*** right here.
    Like it.

  21. FASHION_ICON ~ Anti&Lemonade October 7, 2016

Damn its an instant hit… i got it on repeat already

  22. #Nicole Nation October 7, 2016

This is just fresh as hell!

  23. Justafan October 7, 2016

    Stonegroove

  24. No favs, just here for the music October 7, 2016

Dope af. Reminds me of Uptown Funk to an extent but it’s so Bruno I love it

  25. cocobutta October 7, 2016

Shout out to all natural booty women in the video

Bruno always giving the hip funk a fresh outlook.

Love it cus just so easy to vibe too.
He be bussin them same ol moves but it’s a JAM

  26. FC/JC October 7, 2016

I didnt expect it to be cut from the same cloth as Uptown Funk…… That wasnt even my fav Bruno song, So im hoping to hear more of BRUNO and not this wave hes been riding for that past 2years…. I love King Bruno, but this isnt my fav type of sound, I want something else from him, idk Im so confused, Im kind of let down, i have been waiting in anticipation for his first single, And while I know this is a hit, I guess I just anted a different sound, Innovation.

  27. Dem Lessers October 7, 2016

If a female artist would’ve sang this the comments would’ve been “he’s barely singing, so much auto tune”, “there’s hardly any hook, it’s not catchy” “singing about s**, w****”, “He’s copying the Jackson 5/Prince, when will he get his own sound or show growth”, “He looks short, ugly & old”, “his dad dancing is so bad and stiff” . I can’t stand feminists but in this is a blatant example of inequality. Where does this unattractive fugly aging midget get off singing about ‘hot girls and their ugly friends’ you know if you weren’t famous the ugly friend would be your only option…barely. Nugga’s the type of guy who would be on Tinder for months without no matches, cat calling any lady who breathed an inch near him. Some of y’all sheep, for giving him so much praise for this basicness!

    • JOHNVIDAL October 7, 2016

I agree that some of these same people would be saying this is “copying” not just being “inspired” if it were one of the talented ladies. However, be realistic, Bruno CAN sing and Britney CANNOT. It´s not debatable.

  28. dee October 7, 2016

This is hot! You can definitely tell he was inspired by Prince and Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis.

    • Fancy BISH October 7, 2016

WHY are people down voting you? Jimmy & Terry PRODUCED S.O.S. Band’s Just Be Good To Me! Don’t even stress it chile lol

      • dee October 7, 2016

        thank you girl!

  29. JOHNVIDAL October 7, 2016

Personally I like it a lot. And like I´ve said many times, he´s like the only male in mainstream doing it big with quality and success at the same time worldwide.
All about his image is so tacky here though. And it´s true that this time it doesn´t sound new and fresh like his previous new offerings (Locked up in Heaven was such an amazing moment). I also don´t like one bit the objectification of women in this video as if he were one of those basic rapers. Objectification of women has gone so damn far. It gives me the creeps at this point. I don´t think I´ll watch the video ever again for that sole reason.

    • monty October 7, 2016

      shut up!!

  30. monty October 7, 2016

What the hell is yall talking about this shjt is wack dem lessers is right a site full of sheep. although not surprising

  31. Kitty Puurrzz October 7, 2016

I never really cared for him musically, but this is pretty refreshing. A step above what’s currently on radio. Plus, he looks so cute.

  32. Aunt_Jackie October 7, 2016

Chris Brown has been trying this sound for a while now, but not as slick and not produced as well.

It’ll be a hit. Not as big as Uptown Funk I don’t think, but a hit. He’s veering into a certain kind of territory with this look and style…..but he’s always able to sell things to that cross-over audience that others can’t because his music is ultimately very pop and very produced….we’ll see!

  33. Paulo October 7, 2016

wooo groovy I like it and could see this being a hit
but if we’re picking sides I’m team #Starboy

  34. Ty October 7, 2016

I like it in the same family as uptown funk but I prefer this one it’s got hit written all over it!! Go on Bruno do your thing

  35. ???????Chile, take this “Itty Bitty Piggy” to the market and make sure you hold her hand while crossing the street!??????? October 7, 2016

Now that I think of it, I’m sure there’s a sample from Queen Janet’s O.G. house party anthem, “Go Deep”, in there somewhere.

  36. Remey October 7, 2016

It amazes me when all the hypocrites and “pseudo-professional” critics on here say this song shows no artistic development…..Damn! It’s one song!

This is clearly his lane, which I appreciate. Besides, y’all are comparing UFunk with this single, but leaving out the rest of his discography. Bruno has been extremely consistent while getting stronger with his production and lyrical content. Y’all need to chill. It’s more than the drugs, money, and ass clapping that Chris Brown sings about. Sheesh.
