The Final Numbers Are In: Bryson Tiller Tops Billboard 200 With ‘True To Self’

Published: Sunday 4th Jun 2017 by Rashad

It’s true;  Bryson Tiller‘s sophomore album, ‘True To Self,’ has captured the crown of the Billboard 200.

As we reported here, the set – which hit shelves a month before its previously announced release date – was predicted to move 110-130k SPS its first week (which, if met, would equate to over 5 times that of the first week sales of his inaugural release, ‘Trap Soul’).

Now that the tallying week has ended, industry analysts have revealed the rapper/singer’s final first week sum.  Tuck in below to find out what it is:

‘True To Self’ First Week Sales:  107,000 SPS

Pure Sales:  47,000

According to Billboard:

The set, which was released through TrapSoul/RCA Records on May 26, earned 107,000 equivalent album units in the week ending June 1, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 47,000 were in traditional album sales.

True to Self was released a month earlier than its expected June 23 street date, and is the follow-up to Tiller’s debut set, Trapsoul. The latter set peaked at No. 8 on the chart in January of 2016, and helped Tiller finish the year as Billboard’s top new artist. Trapsoul has earned 1.6 million equivalent album units, of which 441,000 are in traditional album sales.

Congratz are in order to the 24-year-old for his first chart-topper and second consecutive top 10.

Check back later this week to see who joins him on the refreshed Billboard 200 when we publish our weekly chart review, ‘TGJ Chart Check.’

This album is so amazing. I can’t even begin to explain how connected I am with the songs of this album. I’ve cried multiple x thru out the album because the songs are so relatable. I wasn very worried at first because I felt it wouldn’t live up to my expectations and that it sounded too similar to trap soul but he def did his thing. Can’t wait to see him live.

Wow all it takes is 47K to top the charts now? The industry is in trouble, anyway trash prevails again.
Anyone who grew up during the time of real R&B male vocalist wouldn’t even have to ask why this dude’s vocals and music is trash.

We really need a new R&B male artist that can actually sell who knows he’s not a rapper and doesn’t depend on trap beats to sell his music.Someone with pen skill and vocals because male R&B has been trash for almost 2 decades.
