How a lyric soprano can sound so deep, and therefore make people think she’s a contralto, is Brandy’s mystery. The girl ALWAYS delivers and her tone(s) exceed Bey’s in beauty and pleasantness. Bey may have the wider range, but it’s Brandy I can enjoy after 15 tracks. Bless us, underrated virtuoso.

That voice is like silk flowing in the wind to me. Probably the most mesmerising singer to be able to blend and lift from one key to the next like it’s no problem.
I don’t care what people say about her she’s a vocal beauty.

The thing I love most about Brandy is her ability to play around with different vocal tones and textures. She can give you ghostly harmonies/layers; then turn around and squall like a Baptist church choir soloist; then turn back around and give you an airy, girly breathy vocal, then come out of nowhere with precise flute-like runs; then give you a mellow beat riding vocal; THEN a standard Broadway, jazzy moment. It’s like her potential is endless, even at 40 years old we haven’t seen everything she can do. She isn’t a powerhouse like KeKe Wyatt or Jennifer Hudson, but Brandy is a vocal technician who knows her pocket and STAYS in it, while surprising you every now and then. THAT’S what a vocalist is. Not everyone will understand that and it’s cool. Beyonce also comes to mind when I think of a vocal technician. Soooo many colors and layers to her voice. ANYWAY!!! The posted song sounds dope. More like an interlude maybe? The way she’s matching the chords is phenomenal. Brandy’s lower register is so RICH!!! Her tone is just everything to me.
