‘Golden Boy’ Quincy Jones has cited money as the root cause behind Sony‘s motivation to push new Michael Jackson music this week, doing so before his latest LP ‘Xscape’ debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200.
His words below…
Speaking to Jian Ghomeshi’s “Q” talk show on CBC Radio, Jones declared:
“They’re trying to make money. And I understand it. Everybody’s after money, the estate, the lawyers. It’s about money.”
This, as ‘Billboard’ reports:
When asked if he was bothered by the ongoing rollout of recordings featuring the late King of Pop, Jones had this to say: “Yeah, but it’s not my business anymore. They’re not our business (laughs).” Jones’ comments come on the heels of a $10 million breach-of-contract lawsuit he filed in connection with Jackson’s projects released after the singer’s 2009 death. In a complaint filed last October in Los Angeles Superior Court, Jones alleged that master recordings he worked on were wrongfully edited and remixed so as to deprive him of back-end profit participation. Jones also asserted that he’d been denied credit for his work on the late singer’s releases and that MJJ Productions and Sony Music have entered into side deals taking profits that should have been included in the calculation of royalties.

I dont see it as a mess. What i say to myself is The jacksons must have been some pretty bad leaches in life for him to cut them all out accept for his mother. I don’t see a problem with the estate releasing new music. The estate executors only get their percentage which isnt muchh for running that multi million dollar operation. Mrs Jackson and the kids are benefiting from this. They need to strike while the interest is there…..make the money!

Couldn’t be happier that this mess is flopping. It also goes to show that Mr. Timberfake is not the savior of music that everyone is trying to make him out to be. This is LA Reid’s karma. He used that fraud to try and sell this mess after he threw Janet under the bus, and also after he himself threw her under the bus as well when he didn’t properly support her ‘Discipline’ album, only to have this album bomb with Timberfake’s name attached to it and with lower sales than ‘Discipline’ had. Serves him right.
Well the album didn’t flop considering it’s old demos and there was no promotion because Michael is dead, so considering that 157,000 copies is good. But I wish they never released this “album” and that “hologram” of an impersonator was just horrible. They’re doing everything they can to ruin Michael’s image and legacy, but they will never succeed.

what is wrong with you alleged mj fans who are pitching a royal b**** over mj projects that will do more to further cement his legacy??? it’s hard to believe that a fan would object to hearing new music from even though he didn’t release it himself. i feel strongly that he would be overjoyed at the idea that so many are starving for his music five years after his passing. do you really think stifling his new music (which happens to be good btw) is a good way to honor his memory? i don’t worry so much about who’s making money (except for mj ripoff jt…i’d rather he wasn’t benefiting). i’d enjoy hearing as much of his music as can be released. don’t like it, don’t buy
