The next year is set to welcome new albums from the likes of August Alsina (above), Tamar Braxton, Rita Ora & ‘American Oxygen’ provider Rihanna.
Fortunately (or unfortunately) the campaigns launched to support their releases will be forced to accept plans set to be put in place by Billboard next month.

As reported here next month will bring it with the arrival of a global album release date.
Now, Billboard has revealed that is to change the chart tracking week once the new plans are implemented on July 10th.
Starting July 10, the official street date for all new album releases will be Friday (instead of the current Tuesday) in the United States. For all sales-based charts (ranking both albums and tracks), Billboard and Nielsen will change the chart reporting period to cover the first seven days of an album’s release.This will result in an adjusted sales period of Friday to Thursday, as opposed to the Monday to Sunday cycle that has been utilized since the advent of Nielsen Music’s point-of-sales tracking in 1991.
Streaming services will now also be tracked from Friday to Thursday for the charts that incorporate that data.
(The final charts utilizing sales data from a Monday to Sunday cycle (June 29 through July 5) will post on Billboard.com on Thursday, July 9, and will be dated July 18. To account for sales in the in-between days during the transition week to a Friday to Thursday schedule, Nielsen Music will process data incorporating an 11-day cycle [Monday, June 29, through Thursday, July 9]. That 11-day period will inform the Billboard charts that will post on Billboard.com on Tuesday, July 14, and be dated July 25. The pure sales data from the 11-day stretch will be the only data stored historically when accounting for all-time sales according to Nielsen Music; thus, there will be no double-counting, per se, of sales in Nielsen Music’s tracking system for this period in its archived database.)

Did y’all catch that? If not, let me lead you, guide you and show you the way. What that means is, those of your faves who can’t sell albums, but do really well on singles and YouTube streams. IT WON’T count towards pure sales. I’m sorry, let me write this in lamens terms…no amount of pusssy patting, crazy outfits and stunts will matter as of July 14th.
SO, with that being said, I don’t want to see ANYONE posting invalid ass receipts including streams from now on because they DON’T matter. These “streams” will no longer be considered DRAGS. Rule number 2, no one can officially use Spotify or Tidal, or even YouTube receipts to drag anymore because they’re STREAMING services!
Now that that’s settled, let’s hope that all of your faves can show up and show out with pure first week sales.

All this is saying is that 11 day stretch will count toward 1 week and not split between 2 weeks during the transition to Fri-Thurs. The way album sales are tracked now will not change. The only change will be the reporting days.

I’m glad that billboard is doing this. Taking it back to the old school way by making albums sales a more prominent factor instead of counting streams of singles and Vevo/Youtube views as a base factor with the mix of album sales (which I felt really didn’t make any sense but O.k that’s them.) I also agree with @Gee that the R.I.A.A. needs to change the music certification system so people can’t come up with these ridiculous numbers on sales that don’t exist like @Slayonce stated. It always puzzled me on how an artist could sell 150,00 copies of a single but only sell between 15k or no higher than 40k for the album (Huhh! Scratches head.) Just seems ass backwards to me. I guess you can’t be a singles seller forever and your albums are being neglected this should also give music company exec’s a better idea of who they should keep and who they should get rid of when the artist sell or don’t these companies can’t keep investing in a artist who comes out with an album needs to promote the album but does very little to do so then when asked in interviews or interview has the album sales going this person blantly tries to convince themselves by lying saying my album and singles are doing great their both number 1 on the charts. But the interviewer looks on their
