The seventh week of X Factor 2008 live shows aired last night here in the UK. Check out my 2 Pence on the Take That themed week below:
{For those unfamiliar with the show; The X Factor is the UK’s version of American Idol – with a twist in that groups and over 25’s are eligible to enter. The show also birthed the career of a certain Leona Lewis}
With the final rapidly approaching, the competition is becoming pretty intense, with there sure to be some surprising departures over the next few weeks. I wasn’t too keen on the theme this week and the performances on a whole kinda left me underwhelmed. That said, Alexandra (who had vocal issues during the week), turned in a good performance considering, with Rachel also doing an awesome job on her bottom-2 performance. Check out their showings below:
Alexandra Burke – Relight My Fire
Rachel Hylton – And I Am Telling You
It’s a shame Rachel ended up leaving, as this was hands down her best performance yet – a little rough around the edges but still an awesome job all the same.
Though Alexandra wasn’t as great as usual, the judges were right in saying she needs to be in the final. Hell, she needs to win the whole thing! There are many a void I can see her filling. With such a great talent, she has a bright future ahead of her thanks to the show.
Ok, i havent been watching ur X-Factor clips what so every cause i dont even know what the show is…but when i saw someone singing “And im telling you” i was like ok lemme check this out…and i have to say if THAT was her best performance “hands down”…then i could ONLY imagine how BAD she was before that bc she did PITIFUL! She was all off sync..like this woman sounded tone deaf! Sam…she was a dreadful mess..im so sorry, but that was HORRIBLE and she definitly deserved to go home for butchering that poor song like that!
To 9.47 AM i would have to disagree, compared to the rest of the contestant she has given a show week after week and worked the stage, remembering songs and dance routines whilst other just stand in the middle, she is also relatively media ready and seems most natural and at ease in front of the camera, you have to remember that she is only an amateur and can only get better. i liked Diana but have found her to getting progressively worse since skipping… i mean missing Mariah week.
Michael Jackson has made a settlement in principle in a legal dispute over claims he breached a music contract with an Arab sheikh.
He had been due to travel to the UK to give evidence at the High Court.
A spokesman said his legal team told him to postpone the trip as the parties had made an agreement in principle.
The King of Bower’s son, Sheikh Abdulla Bower Hamad Bower Isa Al-Khalifa, was suing Jackson for £4.7m, claiming he reneged on a music contract.
Mr Jackson contested the claim, saying there was no valid agreement.
The B**’s Matthew Shaw was told Mr Jackson was about to board a flight to the UK when he was told to postpone the trip.
‘Personal relationship’
Sheikh Abdulla said he paid all the singer’s living, travel and other expenses until his departure from Bower in 2006, and advanced funds to retain legal and financial advisers. Mr Jackson claimed the payments were “gifts”.
The Thriller star was invited with his children and entourage to Bower, shortly after he was acquitted of child molestation charges in California.
While there, the sheikh lavished money on him.
Sheikh Abdulla also built a recording studio, which he believed would be used to record albums using material he had helped to write.
However Mr Jackson apparently pulled out of the deal in May 2006 after 11 months and has not seen the sheikh since.
Now Sheikh Abdulla says he wants nothing more to do with him and is suing to get his money back. At the start of the hearing which began last week, Mr Jackson’s lawyer, Robert Englehart QC, applied for the star to give his evidence by video link from Los Angeles because of concerns about his health.
But the application was withdrawn after medical experts said Mr Jackson was fit enough to travel.
ALEXANDRA IS THE BEST IF U THINK ABOUT IT SHE’S THE 1ST ARTIST TO PROPERLY BANG OUT ROUTINES AND SING EACH WEEK. I haven’t seen that in American Idol and rarely in X-factor as many times as Alexandra has.
She’s not even that kind of performer usually but still puts it out there week in week out. She’s singing on key and dancing thats impressive. A true performer.
Diana has a unique sound but thats all she brings to the table. Compared to Alexandra she hasn’t been the ultimate consistant performer and thats not being looked at. Although i say this i do like her voice and thinks she has alot of talent and alot more in her vocals to come out
After a lengthy absence from the Hot 100 due to the backlash that ensued after his January-released ‘J Christ,’ rapper-singer Lil Nas X is looking to light up the charts again with his comeback cut ‘Light Again!’
Self-proclaimed “Princess of Christmas” Jennifer Hudson gave viewers of Friday’s episode (October 18) of her talk show a royal treat when she unveiled the very first live performance of the new song ‘Santa for Someone.’

Alexandra is very samey and unoriginal. She has an amazing voice but she hasn’t got the whole package.
Ruth or Diana should win, definitely.
jls did great with the singoff and soo did not deserved to be in the bottom 2..jls/alex/diana 2 win!!!

I think if Alex wins there gonna try and make her like Leona.
and i am telling you…that was off key, outta tune and i have heard an eleven year old sing it better.
RUTH TO WIN!
HOW GOOD WAS SHE SERIOUSLY?!
RUTH/ALEX/JLS FINAL :]
Searching for this for some time now – i guess luck is additional advanced than search engines 🙂
