Exclusive: Mona Scott-Young Addresses ‘Love & Hip-Hop’ Shade At MTV Movie Awards & LGBTQ Cast

Published: Thursday 27th Jun 2019 by Sam

When ‘Love & Hip-Hop’ took home the Reality Royalty honor at the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards, the shade was thick. Not so much from viewers at home, but more so from the rival shows in the audience.

The eye-rolling and jaws ajar sparked many a clapback – including from franchise creator Mona Scott-Young.

That Grape Juice caught up with the TV veteran at the 2019 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards, where she spilled on why she wasn’t here for the jabs.

With Pride month upon us, Mona also explained the importance of telling the stories of LGBTQ cast members on her platform.

Watch her interview with TGJ’s Shar Jossell interview above.

Omg they took down the article about nicki!! Hahaha omg that grape juice! Wat is wrong with u!? That’s effing up ur credibility! No one cares about this lhhatl reality shows are trash regardless and no one watches the mtv movie and tv awards. No one watches mtv or bet to begin with…. pretty soon no one is going to be coming on that grape juice if they keep deleting articles to hide the fact that nicki is irrelevant and underperforming. Cardi out here doing big things what’s good!? That’s a fact son!!

Mtv movie awards use be fun and light with A list celebrities like Tom cruise and Charlize Theron attending in the past but now they have turned it into trash by inviting hood rats and ghetto black people. No wonder their ratings are falling.

Lol ghetto black people. Just say the word n******. You racist piece of crap !!!

?THE LGBT INDIVIDUALS FEATURED ON THE LOVE & HIP HOP FRANCHISE ARE ALL obnoxious, flamboyant, stereotypical, melodramatic & one dimensional.

Let’s not act as if Mona is truly sharing narratives about gay black & brown people that are fruitful to the advancement of LGBT representation.

She chooses the most over the top, overly s***al, ridiculous CARICATURES to represent our community.

ITS DISGUSTING TO WATCH… hence the reason many of us do not tune in to support.

when everyday gay men are featured; stemming from two parent households, possessing college degrees, involved in monogamous relationships & leading a life that has nothing to do with cosmetology or “styling”, THEN… I’ll applaud Mona for actually being INCLUSIVE.
