It looks like it’s playtime once again for ‘The Game.’
Because, according to a new report, the hit show is being revived at its original network.

Deadline has revealed that the show’s creator Mara Brock Akil has teamed with ‘American Soul’s Anthony Gregory to breathe life anew into ‘The Game.’
Word is that plans are place for the title to return to The CW, where it launched in 2006 and ran for three seasons.
At the time of its initial end, the football sitcom was a ratings hit, but suffered the fate of many popular Afro-American shows when The CW drove away from the sitcom format.
Uniquely, this latest resurrection would serve as the second revival of the series – which, after ample fan campaigning, was re-launched in a big way on BET in 2011. A station it called home for another six seasons.
As for what viewers can expect from the incoming incarnation of ‘The Game’?
Well, first thing’s first, it’s being re-tooled as one-hour per episode show. A move believed to help fill the void left by the end of several of the network’s key female-focussed hour-long sitcoms. Namely ‘Jane the Virgin’ and ‘Crazy Ex Girlfriend.’
As for the narrative, it will see the action shift to the East coast and rope in some of the original cast – which, initially was anchored by the likes of Wendy Raquel Robinson, Tia Mowry, Hosea Chanchez, and Pooch Hall.
A synopsis of the new story reads:
“This time, our out-of-touch old-timers are determined to help a bunch of knuckle-head new-schoolers navigate the ruthless game of football on and off the field. They will clash through the pitfalls of fame, fortune and love. Some will win, others will lose, but that’s what happens when you play The Game.”
The news ought to delight many who’ve been calling for reboots of a number of Akil’s notable franchises, such as ‘The Game’ and ‘Girlfriends.’
It also fits in the mix of revivals both airing and cooking at The CW (‘Charmed,’ ‘Dynasty,’ ‘LA Complex’ and more).

Tracy Ellis Ross can’t leave a successful show like Blackish……they should have brought it back b4 she got that show….. I LOVED GIRLFRIENDS & wish it could come back with the original cast…….. the game cast has not had the same steady success in my opinion….. their doing well, but not like when the game was on.
The game had its resurgence on BET And had over 7 millions viewer! Bring back girlfriends!! The CW is garage for cancelling the show and giving girlfriends a proper ending!

I’m here for this! BUT, the CW canceled if originally because it wasn’t a drama and had an almost entirely black cast. But they can’t do any worse than BET did. Those first few seasons were magical.
Please don’t reboot this show. Ugh.
This is the 2nd reboot. Only reboot if it will be along the lines of the original and not the first reboot. More sitcom. More comedy than the “reaching” drama. Something more natural. I’m glad Derwin & Melanie are back. Throw us off. Throw Trey & Drew Sidora in there , something ! Ruffle my feathers !

I enjoy the show I would like to be a part of their casting as extra what I enjoyed about the show I used to coach football and beat man in their own game and never got recognized won the championship the one episode Malik was dating the big girl and he was running from her a lot of men that done me like that making me feel that I wasn’t pretty enough to be recognized
