And she’s making it clear that the music will be her primary vehicle to the top — not her famous connections.
Folk may not know, but the femcee is the cousin of actress of Gabrielle Union and has other industry ties.
In a new interview, she opens up about her belief in being “self made” and carving out her own path.
Her words below…
Speaking with Deus & Mero, the rapper explained:
“They were all kind of upset at me ‘cus they heard ‘My Type’ and was like, ‘We didn’t know you was doing music. What you doing over there?’
But me, I have so much pride. I believe in being self-made and trying to figure things out on my own. I appreciated that they reached out and was like, ‘We see what you’re doing… our friends keep talking about you. We see you and if you need our help, please let us know.’ So I appreciate the support, but for me, like, I’ve always been self-motivated. So, instead of asking for help, I just wanted to see if I could do it on my own.”

I like her a lot. She samples songs but that’s her “gimmick” for now… what’s wrong w sampling throwbacks and giving light to songs that came before? That’s showing respect for other artists and shows her artistry bc she makes it a COMPLETELY different song.
