Though best known for their soaring vocals and awe-inspiring harmonies, R&B titans Erykah Badu and Brandy led an all-female Rap cypher at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards comprised of singers (which aired October 27).
Set to the remix of the latter’s inaugural hit, ‘I Wanna Be Down,’ the duo called on help from two of the genre’s leading ladies of today – H.E.R. and Teyana Taylor.

This was paying homage to Brandy hence HER saying the line about the plastic Barbie doll and it being a collectible. Also the use of the I Wanna Be Down beat. All of the ladies have stated Brandy as an influence and the fact that she was able to share in this moment with them shows that she deserved the crown that she wore in the cypher.

As a Hardcore Monica Fan, I love that Brandy and Monica are eating off their legendary rivalry. As a result of their blockbuster Vezuz, it has garnered both ladies new found exposure. Having said that, loved this cypha. I always loved B-Rocka’s rapping alter-ego [wasn’t it called Brand’Nu]. I loved this remix…surprised at H.E.R’s part ..it had flow and strong lyrical content. Erykah Badu, she is rapper by second nature. Brandy and Teyana held it down. This was great. Keep up the work Brandy!!
