LeToya Album News

Published: Sunday 15th Jul 2007 by Sam
R&B star LeToya served as the opening act on Mary J Blige’s Salinos, California concert this past Friday (July 13th). During the ‘Torn’ singer’s set, she revealed that her sophomore CD – due for release later this year – will be titled ‘Lady Love’. LeToya, then, proceeded to perform the song, which reports described as having an ’80’s groove’, as well as another new track called ‘Don’t Let Me Get Away’. A small tidbit: LeToya also performed a Destiny’s Child Medley (‘No, No No’, ‘Bills Bills Bills’ and ‘Say My Name’.
It’s great to see that the album is coming along smoothly. After making her mark with the first CD, all eyes will be on whether she can deliver with the follow-up. On a side note, I really would have wanted to see the Destiny’s Child medley she did – for more reasons than one.

Do you think LeToya can top her debut?

Good luck, but I don’t think the public cares about her anymore.

LMAO! Go LeToya sing that shiiit you co-wrote. Fukkc what the judge said! Your name on the songwriting credits. Sing it girl! Congrats on the sophomore album. What? People saying what? LeToya ain’t gonna be hot? Man, puhlease, YOU MUST BE ONE of Ms. Kelly 83,000 fans ROFLMMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go somewhere talking that retarded smack. Torn was a huge huge hit. LeToya is on the map, she now has to overcome the sophomore jinx and I think she’s got the looks, the personality, and the charm. All she has to do it come harder on stage and be on point 95% of the time and LeToya has no worries.

Kelly how you gonna let LeToya Upstage you!!!!!!!!!!!

gosh why kelly gotta get thrown in the mix? gosh stop living in the past! it was matthew’s fault the original dc broke up, not bee or kelly! and if she and latavia had stayed in the group best believe that they would be suffering from beyonceitis too! and it’s people like you who live in the past that are the reason why kelly can’t make it as a song writer, kelly is the same quality as letoya! both of them wrote or cowrote their own ish, unlike be who changes one word to get writer credit! gosh! just give props where props are due and support all black artists and cut the drama because i’m sure you’re not one of the 50,000 that is supporting artists like chrisette michelle who writes AND produces her own ish! or fantasia who can blow away anyone linked to dc! stop the drama!

Do your thing Letoya, her first album was the s***, her next will be just as good if not better and you know why, cos Letoya ain’t got a big head she’s all about the music and not thinking she can release any old crap and sell records like some artists (I won’t say no names) LOL

LeToya will continue to do well, I think. Everyone loves the underdog. She might do the same as her original or she might not…but she will be supported. People love and continue to love a comeback story. 🙂

To the person who was making a comment about someone being one of Ms. Kelly’s 83,000 fans and Torn being a big hit. Torn hit #31 on the Hot 100 Chart (the one that really counts) and her other single didn’t chart well either. Kelly’s song “Like This” already hit #30.

I like Toya ~ but there was nothing special about her first album. It’s exactly what you would expect from a new solo artist. One hit that gets people interested and bunch of fillers. Don’t get me wrong, I liked it and I bought it, but it didn’t have me like “Damn, this is really good”. I am interested to see if she can bring it this time though.

To the person who was making a comment about “Torn” hitting #31 and “Like This” hitting #30 on the Hot 100 chart, please remember “LeToya” debuted @ #1 on the Billboard 200 selling 165,000 copies, while “Ms. Kelly” only debuted @ #6 selling a mere 82,000 copies.

^Kelly sold more than letoya did with her 1st album she sold 2.5 mil and letoya only sold 1 mil ..

Had Kelly not performed on the BET Awards by riding B’s coattails the song wouldn’t have reached #30…and LeToya’s record reached #1 on the Urban radio airplay chart not to mention it was the 11th most played song in the U.S. at it’s peak on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay charts.

To the person that keeps talking about Toya’s billboard peeks.
Kelly had the #1 R&B Singles Sales for 5 weeks she’s then went to #3 for 2 weeks, she’s #6 Now. “Like This” peeked at #2 on Hot 100 Singles Sales. If you want more you can find out, because she did more with only 1 single out. The difference is Kelly is not going to fade she will be around longer than LeToya, and will have way more money, also lets not forget she has the voice. LeToya’s voice is like listening to cats.

STOP this LeToya vs. Kelly foolishness. They both have their avenues, none of them sound the same & neither does their music. LeToya is very good with the media & people are drawn to her cus of her story & she’s more than just a singer. She’s got the right inflences round her and TORN was great 4her especially on BET.
Kelly is cool and has a nice album. The fact is people are more unsure bout kelly because her biggest hits(Like This & Dilemma) always seem to be duets rather than her singing on her own. Ms.Kelly jus needs a big ballard to show off her true vocal ability & her album doesn’t have that song on it. The song “You Will Win” shows all the qualities Kelly has as a solo singer. Love all the DC ladies except that temp who couldn’t fill LaTavia’s shoes(Farrah)

honestly i think kelly will get better and better with each album.. as for the album charts yea letoya debuted double of what kelly sold, but you have to think kelly was coompeting with kelly clarkson, T.I. dis disney b****, and some other really big ppl. Last summer Letoya was up against pharrel and NOw 25 or something, she didn’t have competition! it is also about timing when it comes to album sales.. I also think that her album will pick up when her next single comes out. I think like the p**** cat dolls for example, when their album came out it didn’t really sell, but when they had their HUGE hit Buttons that got them sales like crazy!! and boosted their fame and album sales…

also letoya is great. I hopethat her and kelly will be very successful and not have to deal with corny ass comparasions to each other and beyonce.
