Jussie Smollett is set to walk free from a Cook County jail just days after beginning his five-month sentence for faking a hate attack.

According to TMZ, the former ‘Empire’ actor will be released to mount his appeal against his conviction for orchestrating the January 2019 incident.
The star has always maintained his innocence.
Time will tell if his appeal to overturn the conviction succeeds. However, in the here and now, a judge has granted a motion submitted by his defense team to have him released.
Smollett will need to post a bond of $150,000, which he is expected to do, prior to being let go.
In the time since the custodial order was handed down, a number of notable names – such as Jurnee Smollett and Taraji P. Henson – called for his release and deemed the jail sentence harsh and racially charged.
Smollett’s team also claimed he was in physical danger in jail after several threats from the outside; he was also said to be immunocompromised and at heightened risk of contracting COVID-19.
Maybe he will get even more time.

I’ve never heard of a regular person being set free just because they filed a sentencing appeal. Again, he is getting special treatment because he is rich.
