Already one of the most critically acclaimed Hip-Hop efforts of all time, OutKast‘s iconic double disc ‘Speakerboxxx/The Love Below’ just celebrated its 20th anniversary in late September and shortly after unwrapped another cause to celebrate as it now sits in the history books of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for being the highest-certified Rap album ever.
Taking to press recently, the RIAA revealed ‘Speakerboxx/The Love Below’ blasted to the 13x Platinum mark – a measure that denotes sales equivalence of 13 million in the United States.
Big Boi posted a video on Instagram recognizing the achievement for the duo’s fifth studio album.

With the certification upgrade Outkast not only bumps Eminem‘s 12x Platinum ‘The Eminem Show‘ from holding the record of highest-certified Hip-Hop album of all time but also bumps their overall album sales to 25 million in the U.S.
Bolstered by Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping hits ‘The Way You Move‘ and the history-making ‘Hey Ya!,‘ the project won Album of the Year at the 2004 GRAMMYs and is listed on Rolling Stone’s list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Bravo even if it’s not THAT great an album! Anybody who dethrones that bleached wannabe wigga is welcome. Never understood his appeal. Too childish, paranoid, vindictive, and misogynstic.
About time they get it right. 👏🏽👏🏽
