Chappell Roan is speaking out on “harassment” she is getting from fans amid her skyrocketing fame.
More details below…
Taking to TikTok, the ‘Good Luck, Babe’ songstress opened up about fans and how they are crossing the line.
“Just answer my questions for a second. If you saw a random woman on the street, would you yell at her from the car window? Would you harass her in public? Would you go up to a random lady and say, ‘Can I get a photo you with you?’ And she’s like, ‘No, what the f—?’ And then you get mad at this random lady? Would you be offended if she says no to your time because she has her own time? Would you stalk her family? Would you follow her around? Would you try to dissect her life and bully her online? This is a lady you don’t know, and she doesn’t know you at all,” she said.
“I don’t care that abuse and harassment, stalking, whatever, is a normal thing to do to people who are famous or a little famous. […] I don’t care that this crazy type of behavior comes along with the job, the career field I’ve chosen. That doesn’t make it OK. That doesn’t make it normal. That doesn’t mean I want it, doesn’t mean I like it. I don’t want whatever the f— you think you’re supposed to be entitled to whenever you see a celebrity,” she continued.
She concluded that she doesn’t “give a f**k” if it’s “selfish” to decline photos or hugs. “That’s not normal. That’s weird. That’s f**ing weird.”
Roan has risen to fame over the last year and scored her first top 10 hit with ‘Babe,’ while scoring other charting songs like ‘Casual’ and ‘Pink Pony Club.’
She’s really out here comparing fans asking for pictures with harassment? Girl…
yes, she is… Girl bye.
Chappell is gonna lose said fan base if she acts like this. It’s the lifestyle she signed up for. It may be weird but no one forced her into this career. This is what comes with it like it or not. Chappell could learn something from Mariah Carey who treats her fans with respect and recognizes they are important.
Photos is one thing but hugging someone is a bit much. Either she has social anxiety or she’s not understanding the culture. Anyway, I don’t see the hype. Not sure why we’re paying her attention. She clearly doesn’t want it. This will be the last time I comment on anything about her.
Who the f*** is that
The lunch lady from school.
Photos are not harassment. Its fine to say no to photos but she is an actual R***** for doing so since she is such a new artist and these people are probably all new fans. So sad. I think she’ll have her moment but nobody will be talking about her in a decade or less. Maybe shell grow up by then
