Nicki Minaj Defends Lil Wayne’s Disappointment in Not Being Chosen for Super Bowl Halftime Show: ‘What You Have Done for the Hip Hop Culture Will Remain’

Nicki Minaj is sticking up for Lil Wayne.

More details below…

As the 2025 NFL Super Bowl will be held in New Orleans on February 9, Minaj took to Twitter to defend Lil Wayne after he was passed over for the halftime show.

“This too, shall pass—but what you have done for the Hip Hop culture will remain. It will stand the TEST of time. Many times our greatest & most dehumanizing TEST is just a way for God to get the glory,” she wrote.

“You were simply used in a war of egos. To ppl who are empty inside, all they have is temporary power. Now every day, these wicked ppl are spending money to circulate the worst of you,” she continued.

Minaj did not say who was all involved in the situation by name.

I JUST WANT A HEALTHY & WELL ON ALL LEVELS DWAYNE CARTER & I THINK SO DOES THE HIP HOP WORLD, OR AT LEAST I WOULD HOPE THAT THIS IS WHAT THE HIP HOP WORLD WOULD WANT TO SEE OF LIL WAYNE.
Though I do feel as though there may’ve been some shade when Jay-Z made that decision to pick K.DOT over Weezy,y’all gotta remember that Jay Z is producing the SB Half Time Show & WANTS TO WIN EMMYS for his participation in the production of the show. Therefore, it’s my belief that Jay Z DOES NOT WANNA PICKANYONE WOHO CAN INTERFERE WITH HIS CHANCES OF GRABBING ANOTHER EMMY for producing the SBHT Show!

I’ve never seen this sort of reaction to the half time show. Did the NFL owe him something? I’m really not understanding the hoopla…

I agree, it’s ridiculous. The halftime show has never been limited to or strictly linked to an artist from the area in which the Superbowl is being hosted that year. The fact that Lil’ Wayne and others supposedly assumed he would and should be selected and therefore has a legitimate gripe just shows how small minded some people are.
