Oops! Azealia Banks‘s headlining performance at the Milkshake Festival has been canceled over her anti-LGBTQ+ comments in the past.

When Milkshake Fest announced that Banks was headlining the festival Tuesday (February 4), the news was met with immediate backlash by fans of the festival.
Many stated that they wanted the organizers to reconsider since the ‘212’ rapper has spoken negatively about the LGBTQ+ community.
Along with the expectation of Milkshake being a safe and inclusive space and not giving the stage to an artist who makes them feel unsafe and unwelcome.
In an initial statement on Wednesday (February 5) on their Instagram, Milkshake stated that they hear everyone’s concerns and reached out to Azealia’s management team and needed some time to manage the situation:

Milkshake announced today (February 6) that the Harlem rapper will not be performing at the festival, and that they made a mistake. Also, sincerely apologizing to the fans for booking her:
“Dear everyone,
This is an update to inform you that Azealia Banks will not be performing at Milkshake Festival 2025. It is clear to us that we made a mistake and that we have overlooked essential information. We sincerely apologize for this. In correction of our previous update: this statement reflects only our standpoints as an organization, not that of Azealia Banks’ management.
The safety of our visitors, our team, the artists, and crew will always be our main priority. Furthermore, we will assess our initial social media response for learnings and improvements.
We know that this decision will also affect a lot of Milkshake visitors who were looking forward to the show. We understand that, and we want to assure you we have taken as many viewpoints as possible into account.We care deeply about our audience and that we will remain committed to our mission of spreading love and unity.
