Still on a high after the overwhelmingly positive reviews for her comeback to the live circuit via Brandy and Monica‘s blockbuster ‘The Boy Is Mine Tour,’ singer-actress Kelly Rowland seems poised to ride the momentum back to the top of R&B charts as she recently confirmed she’s hard-at-work on new music.

Chatting it up with Samantha Chatman on the ‘Mama, I Made It‘ podcast recently, Rowland revisited the success of ‘The Boy Is Mine Tour’ while dishing on everything from her career-at-large to reconnecting with her father, juggling her busy career with being wife and mom, and so much more.
A standout quote from the jam-packed interview was the GRAMMY winner’s confirmation that new music is in the works.
“I’m back in the studio…I’m very excited,” she stated (as seen in the video above).
And while she did not confirm if the new music will be an EP or her long-awaited fifth solo studio album (the follow-up to 2013’s ‘Talk a Good Game‘), Rowland was sure to clarify the project’s content will likely not be Dance-driven like some of her previous efforts.
“I think things do change all the time, but one thing that’s at the heart and foundation of who I am is R&B and you’re always going to get R&B – Rhythm and Blues and Soul,” she said about what anxious fans can expect from the forthcoming set. “[You’re going to get] real stories and authenticity – that’s the core of who I am and that’s definitely what you’re going to get.”
When quizzed on why it’s been nearly 5 years since her beloved supporters (affectionately called #RowlandStones) last got a body of work from her (i.e. the 2021-released ‘K’ EP), Kelly shared what’s discouraged her.
“I think for me I’ve always second-guessed myself when it came to music. I’ve watched things move so fast and for a second it turned me off,” Rowland relayed before suggesting conversations with Beyonce is partly what encouraged her musical comeback.
At writing, Kelly has not provided a tentative date for when the album or EP will be released.

Ok Normani….. she said she had been in the studio for nearly a decade…..
I can’t wait to hear what the new music sounds like…
Drop no time near Renaissance III
Renaissance is a stand-alone album. There is no 1, 2, or 3
Didn’t she call the dance one ACT I?
It’s about time girl, get your flowers
A Black woman making R&B music …
Groundbreaking
The album shouldve came out as soon as the tour wrapped. KELLY be missing her timing.
However, when it does come out well be listening.
No thats not good marketing she needs to hype peopple up come up with a strategier then releasing. Thats would be the worst marketing.
Please, Kelly, do NOT ask for advice from Beyonce, or let her be involved in any way! She will absolutely sabotage you while making you think she is helping. Bey is one of them ditches that doesn’t want to see anybody around her win. She needs to limit others in order for her to be the one, but I know you won’t listen Kelly because you still don’t see it. I wish you major success.
Spared me typing the same thing. Chloe & Halle are throbbing examples.
She’s a BORING artist🤷
Boring but you are checking so who is the loser ? WORK😂
Checking for her would entail listening to or streaming her boring a** music , something I have NEVER done. Try again🤷
Ahead of her peers sonically more likely. Fun fact: the 1st Destiny’s Child to win a Grammy after disbanding. And the most pleasant tone throughout the band changes.
Huh. I find it funny that she says storytelling is her forté when none of her albums really carry a single thread/plot. That’s criticism but all her albums are GOOD though! I just hope she gets Solange on it cause her writing and Kelly’s vocals go great together
