Christopher Reid, aka Kid from Kid ‘n Play, revealed on ‘Good Morning America’ that he underwent a heart transplant.

During an interview with Michael Strahan, Reid opens up about being diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Last July, he went to the emergency room after experiencing fatigue and shortness of breath, which progressively got worse over time.

After the diagnosis and follow-up, the ‘House Party’ actor was told to come back to the emergency room because his heart was failing. The doctors told him a heart transplant was his only option, and he was placed on a waitlist.

Eight days after being on the waitlist, they told the rapper he would be getting a new heart the following evening.

The ‘Rollin’ With Kid ‘n Play’ MC says he is cherishing this second lease on life. He shared:

“This thing is … a beautiful life. It’s great. And, you know, I wanna be around for it.”

Continuing, the actor said he wants to inspire people, especially people of color, to put their health first. He added:

“A lot of times, we don’t go because we don’t want the bad news, or we too busy just hustlin’, trying to make it from day to day. And we … feel like we don’t got time, or we’ll get over it. Well, you might not.”
