Sidney Starr’s Statement
The ‘Love & Hip Hop: New York’ alum gave a statement to TMZ. In it, she unequivocally denies the allegations. Furthermore, she intends to defend herself vigorously through the legal process.
“Allegations should not be mistaken for fact, and public opinion should never replace due process.”
Starr then went further. Specifically, she urged the public not to treat the case as a reflection on the transgender community. One person’s alleged conduct, she argued, should never stigmatize an entire group.
Additionally, she thanked supporters for their patience and asked for privacy. This will be her only public comment while proceedings continue.
Her Mother Speaks
Starr’s mother, Stephanie Favors, also spoke to the outlet. She called the allegations entirely out of character. Moreover, she does not believe her daughter capable of what prosecutors allege.
What She Is Charged With
Police arrested Starr, 37, on Sunday at an Embassy Suites hotel in Hapeville, Georgia. She faces three charges. These are sexual battery against a child under 16, aggravated child molestation, and sodomy.
Meanwhile, Hapeville Police have declined to release further details. They cite the involvement of a juvenile. The investigation now sits with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. Fulton County authorities have also released her booking photograph.
She remains in custody. However, she has not entered a plea, and no court has proven any of the allegations.
