However, today saw news that will be sure to lift the moods of any Rap enthusiast keeping track of J.Cole‘s debut album ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story’.
Raise your glasses people, because nine weeks after the album’s release it has been certified Gold in the US.

Peaking at #1 and with over 500,000 units sold, the LP received its certification just days after the performer discovered he was nominated in the Best New Artist category at the 2012 Grammy Awards.
Though some would point out that Drake‘s ‘Take Care‘ sold more in one week than ‘Cole World’ sold in nine, there is no denying that this is an impressive feat for the ‘Who Dat‘ maestro.

He’s doing great. J.Cole is a rapper, not a pop-rapper or pop-singer like Drake can be. He’s not trying, on purpose, to cross-over. So, that is an OUTSTANDING feat for him.
But he reached gold with a good solid debut album, hard work, and a good attitude. Congrats man.

Why would Young Money cheat themselves by buying the records they PAY to have released, think about it.
A CD costs $1 to make but retails for $10, so if YM were buying their OWN artists records, they’d be putting themselves at a loss of $9 for every copy they bought, do you think Baby would be as wealthy as he was if he was really doing this.
It makes no sense, there isnt a scenario out there which supports that idiotic claim.
Drake sells because he isPop star posing a Rapper and Nicki sells for the same reason, that doesnt make them bad rappers-theyre very good- but it is what it is. Thats what make them so commercially viable
