Usher’s New Album Pushed Back…Again

Usher Album Pushed Back

Despite being pushed back several times already, fans hoping to snap up Usher‘s new album ‘Raymond vs Raymond’ will have to wait longer, as the R&B crooner has announced that the record will not be hitting stores on December 21st as previously announced. In fact, there is now no release date set for the project, which was proceeded by the single ‘Papers’ (currently #2 on the Billboard R&B Chart).

Speaking in the reason for the latest delay, a rep for the singer told MTV:

“We believe that the album is so strong that we want to give it the opportunity to have the proper setup before coming out,”

While my inner-cynic is itching to give the side-eye to the notion of “it’s so good, we’re pushing it back again” explanation, I’m somewhat inclined to believe it true in this particular instance  – well, at least the part about giving it a proper set-up. After all, without a video in site and no promotion thus far, it really did appear as if those handling his project were cheaply looking to cash in on the Christmas heightened sales season and nothing more.

In any case, here’s hoping this is the last of the delays (as bar ‘Papers’, I’m really liking what I hear of the record). Then again we know nothing  of a new release date. SMH…

    waits for justin timberlake

  2. hellno November 23, 2009

damn he’s following the same thing Alicia keys said. Alicia’s album is not going to do great numbers.

Rihanna is not flopping…she’ll be somewhere in the top 3…I’m actually rooting for Gaga and Rihanna…I do not want that sandra want to be rejected ex-factor lady to win.

    flop

  4. marjan November 23, 2009

lol and you all said that mariah carey’s memoirs was a flop when it did 170,000+ in the first week… 50cent did WORSE Than mariah. can we all discuss these sales figures? everyones numbers are horrid. its the signs of the time. its just gonna get worse people.

Hmmm, I think its a decent move for Usher. Perfect timing and promotion is important if you wanna make the best out of an album release. I agree with MARJAN above about sales numbers being a sign of the times. Also, it’s the quality of music too. I think even the established artists need to change it up and get fans re-interested.

what’s wrong with these singers?they used to have success but now they are flopping hard!!
    mariah carey
    50cent
    usher
    maryjblige
    shakira
chrisbrown and timabland will join the list very soon
    and i’m worry about alicia
and rihanna won’t have a huge success this time unfortunatly

  7. SHUT IT November 24, 2009

^^^ @PARISIAN GIRL ,Chris Brown’s album Graffiti won’t flop, that’s what all you expect and predit but I am 150% sure, he will prove you all wrong, never assume because you will always get it wrong. He probably do the best out of all those you mention, I like surprises and I hope he surprises everyone one of you doubters.

actually the album has only been pushed back once. The only release date that was actually real was Dec 21. So, I don’t think it is a bad look at all. Didn’t really think it was going to come out so soon anyway what with there not even being a real single out, because Papers is just the buzz single.

I am worried nowadays because Usher will never come back with a vengeance. All the bad luck he has been having has really hurt his career so much. I am starting to get scared that the haters are correct because it makes me worry that Usher will be doomed for this new album just like the last one. Usher is a true Rnb Legend who deserves more recognition. The problem is that everyone took his personal life too seriously and that is why he failed. He would have sold more records if it wasn’t for the lame public.

Personally Usher should do something painful to himself to gain back sympathy of his fan base and to realize that he is an innocent guy who fell for a trap with that wife of his. If this next album of his fails then no more listening to music ever again.

I think that this is going to be one of Ushers best albums and is worth the wait. I have been waiting for it and can continue waiting because when it does come out it is going to blow up the charts ridiculously. I beg anyone to differ. Usher is an all aorund fantastic and talented artist. Whoever said his last album “Here I Stand” was a bad album is completely wrong. I think it was his best album and am dissapointed that he is turning back towards his old style instead of staying with the adult contemporary style he tried to pursue with that album

  15. VICTOR SEBITSIWA December 23, 2009
