This is an ARTIST. For those who are insecure about what an artist is, I nor Frank can be bothered.

“channel Orange” continues to challenge the lessors to elevate their work.

    * bumps Miguel’s “How Many Drinks?” *

Then why can’t the same be said about Bey?

‘4’ sold exactly as much as ‘Born to Die’ and had much bigger hits.

So it’s even mathematically invailed to say Lana “is still going strong” while Bey “is irrelevant”.

Aside from the fact that Bey has been strong for 15 years and already had (with DC sales counted) sold a combined total of 65 million albums + 4 million DVD’s even before ‘4’ and ‘Live at Roseland’ were released and certified Platinum meanwhile Lana is brand new,

Aside from all of that mentioned above, ‘4’ even sold 200K more than ‘Born to Die’ so far.

So if you think Bey is irrelevant, THEN that = Lana is irrelevant.

Same goes for Rihanna and ‘Talk That Talk’, which only outsold ‘4’ by 300K despite being much cheaper (discounted) and having bigger hits.

No one cares. Stop making everything about Beyonce.
        Stupid f***.

    • JOHNVIDAL October 6, 2012

Funny how you try to downplay two talented musicians who make real music, their own style, and yes they also songwrite it

Ummmmm I Smell The Ocean….I Just Love This Guy!Haters Time To Grab The Nearest Seat! Ocean <3

  10. FireIce October 6, 2012

Frank is just a bunch of empty, gimmicky hype. The real guy to watch out for now is Miguel.

    • BitchICan’tEvenSpellWelfare October 6, 2012

Huh? There is NOTHING “empty” or “gimmicky’ about Frank Ocean–sorry. Did you actually listen to the brilliant “channel Orange?” Or the stellar “nostalgia, ULTRA?”

& yes, Miguel is dope. Listening to ” Kaleidoscope Dream” as I type this. Love it. But he & Frank cannot be compared. VERY different music.

  11. Rowan October 6, 2012

The guy shouldn’t be lumped with R&B singers. He isn’t. He also doesn’t even market himself like R&B singers…look at Miguel all over this blog and radio..did Ocean do the same? They spent so little on his marketing. The guy will get many returns and luckily he writers plus produces his own stuff.

I wonder why so little marketing? Especially in Europe where his album went number 1& 2 in a few countries. Bizarre. Bet it’s Ocean’s doing he hates publicity.

    • mob:b**** i’ll carry UR head October 6, 2012

He pulled the GREATEST PUBLICITY STUNT in modern music history and you don’t tink he like publicity? 0_o LOL
      is that a joke?

Frank Ocean is not a traditional R&B artists but that wont stop him from being declared the NEW KANG OF R&B as he has been herald by the fake ass American media!

      • lol October 6, 2012

What stunt is that ? Saying he’s bisexual or once had a relationship with a man … matter of fact before he came out you stated you thought he was gay.. well congrats your gaydar works 🙂 so why are you upset that he admitted it ?

Your one to talk when your fav is releasing videos high as f*** mind you confessing he is in love with two women , has released dissed tracks aimed at dudues taking his spot ahum Drake, and leaked d*** pictures all for the world to see … If anybody is a stunt queen its Chris Brown , but unlike Chris Brown Frank Ocean is actually deserving up the hype he receives due to his substantial amount of MUSICAL TALENT .. I’m not talking the dancing and selling s** your fav does along with the twenty four seven whoring his self out to the media

      • JOHNVIDAL October 7, 2012

        @lol
LMAO yes f*** yeahhhh!! You are so right. Some b****** on here need reality checks from time to time

  12. MC October 6, 2012

  13. SBC19 October 6, 2012

    “No homo” – Chris Brown.

    • mob:b**** i’ll carry UR head October 6, 2012

Yeah but Chris Brown NEVER SAID THIS! 🙁 The RACIST BLACK MALE HATING GAY publication the Advocate made up that story to support the claim that Frank Ocean should be th enew KANG of R&B and not Chris Brown!

  14. Brick House October 6, 2012

I actually like the cover though I am not a Frank Ocean fan!

  17. dani42 October 6, 2012

I really like the cover and I hope there is an interview to go with it, but I doubt it. I love Frank’s music and I’m loving the new Miguel CD. There are clear differences between the two and clear differences in their marketing strategies. Frank (and I pray he hasn’t sabotaged himself) clearly has decided against doing most publicity for his album. I think all of the attention, while good for album sales was probably a little too overwhelming for him. He did two interviews since coming out with The Guardian and the Australian or English radio show which didn’t even touch o his sexuality. He did more interviews and press with and for Odd Future than for his own album, so it’s clearly a choice. He didn’t even do an album release party and I know for a fact they every news outlet, talk show, magazine, radio show, etc. tried to get him on after the album came out but he refused to do any probably because he knows that all they really want to talk about is the coming out part. He’s probably not real comfortable talking about that yet. He really has/had the potential to be huge, but maybe he just doesn’t want to be. He seems to relish his privacy, but I hope he doesn’t get to the point where writers and critics just don’t care because they can’t get any access to him.

Miguel on the other hand is hungry. He is doing any interview he can, album release parties, show dates all over the place. He is making sure he capitalizes on every opportunity. I hope it all catapults him to where he needs to go because he is amazingly talented. They both are
