After ample teasing, K. Michelle is saddling up for a ride to the top of Country charts thanks to a high-profile new deal in Music City!
Over a decade after award-winning songstresses Tamar Braxton and K. Michelle first locked horns, the R&B divas are still at it – this time rearing their claws regarding recent comments the former made about Black artists permeating the Country musical landscape since Beyonce‘s groundbreaking ‘Cowboy Carter.’
Details inside.
After Beyonce surprised the world on Sunday (February 11) with the announcement of a Country-tinged album titled ‘Act II,’ she could barely blink before the project’s first two songs – ‘16 Carriages‘ and ‘Texas Hold ‘Em‘ – were found holding the top spots on real-time sales charts.
And while many-a-critic and loyal fan (also known as the #Beyhive) are singing the chart-topping diva’s praises, there’s one who isn’t exactly sold on the musical transition: rapper Azealia Banks.
Although K. Michelle is putting the finishing touches on her sixth and final R&B album, ‘I’m the Problem,’ the singer-songwriter has the solution for impatient fans (affectionately called #Rebels) itching for a taste of her offerings in other genres.
As has been widely reported, Michelle is set to follow ‘Problem’ with her inaugural foray into Country.
And while there’s no tentative release date on that project yet, the 41-year-old is whetting appetites as a feature on rising star Justin Champagne‘s latest hit, ‘Country Love Song.’
“You’re the one that I’m feelin/ I won’t ever let you go, I just think you need to know/ I don’t even need a reason/ Give u whatever you want, when you call imma come runnin/ I’ll keep our little secret,” she sings on the sizzling track.

Long before ‘Old Town Road’ took the charts by storm, K. Michelle had been touting her abilities as a Country artist.
Indeed, despite finding her success in the R&B arena, the Memphis native has been oh so open about her love for Country music and yodelling. The latter of which she actually had a scholarship for.
Now, as Lil Nas reaps the rewards for something many felt impossible (see: Black artist making waves in the Country space), K is taking matters into her own hands.

Beyonce‘s new album, the March 29-released ‘Cowboy Carter,’ may be well on its way to galloping to the peak of the Billboard 200, but it’s also riding to to the top of critics’ choice lists as well.
Praised for its masterful sonic fusion of contemporary Urban and Country sounds, the ‘Texas Hold ‘Em‘-led project isn’t only garnering thumbs up from some of the industry’s top tastemakers but also from artists who have already tackled and conquered the latter genre.
Among them is award-winning songstress K. Michelle – who made headlines last year for confirming her September 2023-released project, ‘I’m the Problem,‘ would be her last foray into R&B before fully transitioning into Country.

After scooching to critical acclaim in 2023 with her final R&B album, the ‘Scooch‘-led ‘I’m the Problem,’ singer-reality star K. Michelle is continuing to gift fan favorite cuts from the project accompanying music videos before fully launching her Country career.
Having already lifted a string of visuals for the LP’s housed songs like ‘Wherever the D May Land,’ ‘Same Damn Show,’ ‘Hurt Sh-t,’ ‘Tennessee,’ and ‘You,’ the award-winning songstress is back with yet another clip – this time affording the warmly received ‘This Man‘ the visual treatment.
“What do you do when the man that you love don’t love you? / There’s no words or no phrase to make you feel like I do / You just abandoned my heart like I wasn’t worth a damn / You didn’t want me from the start, you showed me that by loving her,” she croons on the Cassius Jay-produced tune.

K. Michelle has long made clear her intention to scooch from R&B to Country. And with the September-released ‘I’m the Problem‘ (her final album in the former genre) in her rearview, the award-winning songstress has saddled up for a ride to Nashville.
Affectionately known by the alter ego ‘Puddin,’ Michelle took to the 57th annual Country Music Awards (CMAs) on Wednesday (November 8) to give the live treatment to her stirring rendition of ‘Love Can Build a Bridge’ (which was featured on the ‘Tribute to the Judds‘ album released in October).
Assisted by one of the night’s top winners, the rising Country star Jelly Roll, look inside to see the thunderous applause the two rightfully earned with their moving homage to the legendary family act (if you missed the action when it first aired).
With four decades of hitmaking to their credit, Country superstars The Judds are easily one of music history’s most celebrated family acts.
A toast to their enduring legacy came courtesy of the star-studded ‘A Tribute to the Judds,’ delivered to digital streaming services on October 27.
Boasting contributions from the likes of music superstars like Carly Pearce, Dolly Parton, Gabby Barrett, Jennifer Nettles, Le Ann Rimes, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood, and many more, the project serves as a compilation album of reimagined versions of the legendary duo’s most beloved hits.
Standout tracks undoubtedly came via Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani‘s version of ‘Love is Alive’ (the tribute project’s lead single) as well as award-winning R&B singer K. Michelle‘s ‘Love Can Build a Bridge’ featuring Jelly Roll and the Fisk Jubilee Singers.
“The Judds are one of the greatest country acts of our lifetime. 80s country music is my favorite decade, and I’ve been singing Judd songs for as long as I can remember,” Shelton said in a statement. “‘Love Is Alive’ was on their first album, and we wanted to stick pretty close to the original version, and Gwen just nails the vocal. We’re thrilled to be part of this tribute album.”

With her last R&B effort ‘I’m the Problem‘ (released September 22), K. Michelle is unquestionably going out with a bang.
As if its content isn’t raking in enough critical acclaim from the singer’s fans (old and new alike), the stunning music videos that have supported the era aren’t lacking such responses either.
Having already lifted a string of visuals for the LP’s housed cuts ‘Hurt Sh-t,’ ‘Tennessee,’ ‘Wherever the D May Land,’ ‘You,’ and the #1 hit ‘Scooch,’ Michelle is back with yet another clip – this time gifting the warmly received ‘Same Damn Show‘ the visual treatment.
“I swear, it’s just the same damn show / I already know how the story goes / It’s the same damn show (Ooh) / I don’t wanna be the star anymore / I done gave you everything that I had in me / I’ll be damned if I let you take what’s left of me,” she croons on the Aaron Pearce-produced chorus.
