The raunchy video for ‘WAP’ helped Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion nab a historic #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

And while the much-loved clip continues to accrue hundreds of thousands of views a day, it would have played out slightly differently if Cardi got her way.

In commemoration of Michael Jackson‘s 62nd birthday, the singer’s estate teamed with Spike Lee to unleash a new version of the King of Pop’s ‘They Don’t Care About Us’ music video.

Timely, in light of the rifeness of social injustice, the refreshed version of the visual spotlights the Black Lives Matter movement and more.

A life long philanthropist and social activist, Jackson used his platform to propagate the need for equality. Hence, it’s fitting that said sentiments are being continued posthumously.

Speaking on the release, Lee (who directed the 1995 original) said:

“Great Protest Songs Can’t Get Old, Stale Or Nonrelevant Because The Struggle Still Continues. That’s Why THEY DON’T REALLY CARE ABOUT US IS The Anthem During This Chaotic, Pandemic World We Are All Living In. To Celebrate Michael Jackson’s Born Day, We Have Made The THEY DON’T REALLY CARE ABOUT US 2020 Short Film To Continue The Struggle For Equality For All. That’s The Truth, Ruth. Be Safe.”

The latter – unveiled August 28 (as we reported here) – came as somewhat of a surprise as confirmation of its due date happened just shortly before the song actually debuted. Now, in an effort to help its bid up the charts, the duo have premiered its accompanying music video.

Keke Palmer may have just celebrated her 27th birthday (August 25), but it looks like she’s the one handing out gifts as August 28 brought with it the arrival of her latest EP, ‘Virgo Tendencies, Pt. 1.’

The 12-track affair, her solo effort first since November 2016’s ‘Lauren’ EP, comes courtesy of her own imprint: Big Bosses Entertainment.
