Welcome back to TGJ Replay!

Designed much like our ‘Retro Rewind’ and ‘From the Vault’ features, ‘Replay’ is That Grape Juice‘s newest reflective segment to act as a written quest to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday. Unlike its TGJ retrospective predecessors, ‘Replay’ looks to dust off and showcase entire albums (and eras) from a library of pop and Urban pop music hits.

In honor of her 59th birthday (August 16), this week we’d like a look at ‘Like A Virgin’ – Madonna‘s most successful album to date (in the U.S.)…

Queen of Pop Madonna wasn’t quite prepared for the royal disappointment the setlist for her long-awaited ‘Rebel Heart’ tour live CD and DVD was going to be for diehard fans.

The pop icon, who celebrates her 59th birthday today (August 16th), thought she’d gift her fans with the official pre-order link and track list of the project, set to hit shelves a month from today (September 16th).  Her supporters, already upset the live CD and DVD were coming over a year-and-a-half (approximately 18 months) after the worldwide trek wrapped in Australia, became even more so when peeks at the track list saw fan favorite cuts ‘Love Don’t Live Here Anymore,’ ‘Take A Bow,’ ‘Who’s That Girl,’ and even ‘Rebel Heart’ cut ‘Ghost Town’ absent.

After one read of the frustrations expressed on Twitter and Facebook, all we could say was…ouch!

Queen of Pop Madonna has earned the title of ‘royal b*tch’ from the staunchest supporters of her biggest contemporaries over the years.

Most recently dominating headlines for a resurfaced letter that saw her refer to Whitney Houston as ‘horribly mediocre’ (click here to read more if you missed it), she not only infuriated the ‘I Will Always Love You’ singer’s stans, but also added them to a long list of fan groups who have penciled her name atop their hitlist.  A list that features the likes of Lady Gaga, Prince, Michael and Janet Jackson, Cher, Mariah Carey, and many more, Madge’s mouth has certainly incited no shortage of fury over her nearly 4 decade long career.

Now, for this week’s “Top 5,” That Grape Juice looks back at her top 5 feuds.  Look below to see if your favorite made the cut:

Can Katy Perry catch a break?

New single ‘Bon Appétit’ is in free-fall on iTunes and her name is tangled in a tussle about an alleged racial slur.

Last night’s MET Gala seemed like an opportunity to forget her troubles, have some festive fun, and embrace her position as co-chair of this year’s spectacle.

As part of her involvement with the star-studded event, she also took to the stage to perform.

Joined by Migos, the Pop starlet offered a rendition of ‘Appétit’ – however it was far from appetising.

Stiffly shuffling across the stage, the whole performance fell pancake flat and actually had us a little embarrassed for her. Especially during her interaction (if it can be called that) with the Rap group…

It appears her contemporaries weren’t the most enthused either. Peep J.Lo and Madonna below…

We’re still stuck on what this was supposed to be…

Do better. Be better.

Your thoughts?

As we write, stars from all corners of the arts are filing into the 2017 MET Gala.

Katy Perry, who serves as co-chair for this year’s installment, delivered the night’s most dramatic look.

Arriving in a royal red ensemble, her forehead sported the word “witness” – leading many to speculate whether it’s related in some capacity to her upcoming new album.

Whatever the case, Perry will no doubt be hoping her look garners ample attention given the current struggle new single ‘Bon Appétit’ is experiencing.

Other names on hand include Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Ma Pharrell Williams and wife Helen Lasichanh (who welcomed triplets earlier this year). Also in the house were The Weeknd, Selena Gomez, Serena Williams, Solange, Rita Ora, La La, Nick Jonas, Kylie Jenner, Future, and Jaden Smith.

One of Madonna‘s former friends and dancers have stepped out to confirm that the star had a deep rooted hatred of her 90s chart rival Janet Jackson.

Kevin Stea, who stood as one of the brains behind Madonna’s creative machine, is now feuding with the singer after he joined a large group of her former employees to sue her for moves he claims she made to invade their privacy and exploit them during their time together.

Now, he has opened up an incident which he says shocked him to his core and exposed, according to him, Madonna’s supposed desire to take Janet down.

With photographer/directors Luigi & Lango in tow, Queen of Pop Madonna teamed with ‘Vogue Germany’ for ‘Her-Story’: a short film in celebration of ‘International Women’s Day.’

A self-proclaimed ‘revolution of love’ and ‘refusal to accept this new age of tyranny,’ a suspected dig at President Donald Trump, the glossy black-and-white affair see the controversial hitmaker reference everything from Nazi Germany to her usual stomping ground – religion.

Coming as one of many female artists lifting a nod to the day (including Kylie Minogue, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, and many more), tuck in below for your first peek at the film:

The last month has been very kind to Rihanna.

Barring that whole Grammy fiasco, the songstress – who celebrated her 29th birthday on February 20th – kicked the month off by learning her latest single, ‘Love on the Brain,’ was officially certified platinum.  As if that’s not enough, this week the song ascended to the top 10 of the Hot 100.  The upward move not only granted her third trip into the tally’s upper dectet from the ‘Anti’ project alone, but it also came as a historic achievement for her (whose Hot 100 resume knows few equals).

In fact, proof of this comes just 1 year after she broke King of Pop Michael Jackson‘s Hot 100 #1s record , she’s now unseated his record-setting top 10’s record.  Get the details inside:

The Material Girl Madonna was certainly a girl gone wild at last week’s worldwide Women’s March designed to protest Donald Trump.

With demonstrations hosted on every continent (yes, including Antarctica), most of the attention was directed to D.C. where a number of celebrities, including the Queen of Pop, assembled to draw attention to their cause.  Some of that attention took a negative turn, however, when Madge took to the mic to encourage Trump to “suck a d–k” and she even threatened to “blow up the White House.”  The statement drew criticism from viewers and even catalyzed rumors that the Secret Service took those threats seriously and was helping launch an investigation against her (read more on that by clicking here).

As the story continued its rounds, Trump – who has gone on record calling female opponents “nasty” and “pigs” – offered an equally fiery clap back against the pop icon.  Taking to Fox News, hear what he said inside:

‘Express Yourself’ singer Madonna has made a career of doing just that, often to the tune of controversy and backlash.  Yesterday, however, her outspokenness reportedly got her in hot water with the U.S. government after the pop icon took to the anti-Donald Trump “Women’s March on Washington” to voice her displeasure with the sitting president.  Taking the mic, Madge stated:

“Yes, I’m angry. Yes, I am outraged,” she said. “Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House. But I know this won’t change anything.”

The fiery quote, according to some outlets, allegedly aroused interest of investigation from the Secret Service for violent threats to the President (a report that has yet to be substantiated).  Regardless, Madonna took to Instagram to ease worry of fans who feared their fave singer may be going on an unexpected tour soon…of a prison.

Both time and a common cause can be a healer.

In years past, Madonna and Cher have gone on record to say some pretty shady comments about one another.

However, the Pop titans put on a united front last night the Women’s March to Washington.

Staged one day after the inauguration of President Donald Trump, the march saw civilians as well as a large number of celebrities take to the streets of DC (and countless other corners of the world) to assert the rights of women and protest Trump’s sexist views.

We’re loving the camaraderie, although we do still chuckle at this…

Madonna serves a generous helping of gothic glamor on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar‘s 150th Anniversary issue.

The arguable Queen of Pop strikes a number of resonating poses in her feature spread, and pairs the pics with an equally engaging set of quotes. Particularly as pertains to ageism in media.
