City Girls‘ surprised-dropped sophomore studio album, ‘City on Lock,’ didn’t exactly unlock the fanfare that accompanied its predecessor (which featured the smash hit ‘Act Up’), but the project – their first top 40 hit on the Billboard 200 – was far from a write-off.

More evidence of such comes courtesy of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which updated its logs recently to reveal the Southern femcees have added a third plaque from the organization to their growing collection.

As evidenced by her new music video, rising rapstress Mulatto – the self-proclaimed Queen of Da Souf – isn’t afraid to look after her kingdom.

In celebration of the release of her official debut album’s deluxe edition (click here to stream), the Atlanta-based beauty has released yet another tune from the expanded set – ‘Spend It’ – and accompanied it with a moving visual.

Admitting the clip’s original treatment was going to see her showing off her clothes, jewels, and cars, Big Latto revamped the video to showcase her philanthropic efforts for the holidays as she gave away a truckload of toys, home essentials, and food for needy locals.

In August 2019, Taylor Swift earned her 44th top 20 hit when the title track from her seventh studio album, ‘Lover,’ was lifted to #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 (as we reported here).

Tying Queen of Pop Madonna‘s longstanding record for most top 20 hits among women at the time, Swift snatched the title from Madge the next year when ‘Cardigan’ – the lead single from her eighth studio album ‘Folklore’debuted at #1 on the Hot 100 and later led other of the album’s cuts, ‘Exile,’ ‘The 1,’ ‘The Last Great American Dynasty’ and ‘My Tears Ricochet,’ into top 20 terrain as well.

Now, thanks to newly charted music found aboard her ninth studio album, ‘Evermore,’ Taylor looks poised to hold on to the title forevermore as she’s added even more songs from her prized discography to the distinct honor.

On December 22, 1995, the groundbreaking film ‘Waiting to Exhale’ breathed long overdue new life into what women of color could look like on the big screen.

Toplined by Whitney Houston, Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine, and Lela Rochon, the Terry McMillan novel-turned-movie’s megawatt cast was only outshone by the unforgettable, Babyface-helmed soundtrack that beckoned the talents of R&B’s leading ladies of the day – Mary J. Blige, TLC, Brandy, Toni Braxton, and more alongside legends Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle, and Chaka Khan.

Defining a generation by tackling resonating topics and producing jaw-dropping scenes that have stood the test of time, the film’s recently announced reboot in TV series form will have big shoes to fill.  Granted, the re-adaptation’s official cast has yet to be announced but That Grape Juice – much like fans of the flick – have already begun throwing in the names of modern day favorites to revive the film’s most memorable characters.

Join us inside as we count the 9 names we at least want to be part of the conversation when McMillan and Lee Daniels (the reported director) consider who should lead the new cast.
