Mariah Carey has unveiled the latest treat from her upcoming ‘The Rartites’ (due out October 2) album, the delectable ‘Out Here On My Own.’

The track was originally performed by Irene Cara in the 1980 movie musical ‘Fame.’ Mimi later recorded her version of the song back in 2000, where it was left to gather dust until now.

The Songbird Supreme sings on the first verse:

“Sometimes I wonder where I’ve been, who I am, do I fit in? / Make believin’ is hard alone, out here on my own.”

The ballad, of course, showcases her full multi-octave-spanning vocal range.

Once no stranger to dominating the Billboard Hot 100, ‘In Common’ singer Alicia Keys has seen her last two albums have one glaring stat in common; they both went to chart battle with no Hot 100 top 40 singles to precede them.

While her critically acclaimed 2016-released album, ‘Here,’ didn’t boast any charting singles, its follow-up – the self-titled ‘ALICIA’ – fared better as it at least nabbed two Gold certifications courtesy of the Miguel-assisted ‘Show Me Love’ (#90 peak) and ‘Underdog’ (#69 peak) respectively.

Powered by the relative wins on the Hot 100, ‘ALICIA’ – Keys’ seventh studio LP – is heading to digital shelves with some of her most palpable buzz in recent years thanks to positive press garnered from its tunes shedding light on social issues like the global health crisis, #BlackLivesMatter, and more (see: ‘Perfect Way to Die,’ ‘Love Looks Better,’ ‘Good Job,’ ‘Underdog,’ and more).

Is that hype enough to lift her to the top of the Billboard 200?

Sam Smith‘s third era may have kicked off in a promising manner thanks to the Normani-assisted ‘Dancing with a Stranger’ (one of the biggest songs of 2019), but the follow-up tunes lifted from its accompanying album – previously titled ‘To Die For’ – have all had varying levels of success on the Hot 100 with some missing the tally all together.

Hoping to change the tide, Smith is shining light on a new single: the Shellback & Oscar Holter-produced ‘Diamonds.’

Announced just Monday (September 15), the song arrives nearly two months after the GRAMMY winner’s last ill-fated release ‘My Oasis’ (featuring Burna Boy).’
