Pride month was chock full of Madonna, just the way we are sure her legion of LGBT fans would like it.
Topping the charts with her 14th studio album, ‘Madame X’ (released June 14), the Queen of Pop ended the month with a rocking performance during New York City’s Pride Island 2019 (June 30).
Lending a 20 minute set, the diva may have opened with her classic, dance floor groove ‘Vogue,’ but from there she rendered live performances of her politically charged tunes ‘God Control’ and ‘I Rise’ (both found on ‘Madame X’) and also a rare live performance of her equally political 2003 hit, ‘American Life.’
“Fifty years, people,” she said. “Fifty years of celebrating. Fifty years of revolution. Fifty years of freedom fighting. Fifty years of putting up with discrimination, hatred and indifference. Fifty years of blood, sweat and tears. Fifty years of not bowing down to fear. We have been on this journey together, and I am so proud and honored to share this historical evening with you.”
