Naya Rivera‘s tragic death shocked and saddened in equal measure.

As reported, the ‘Glee’ actress lost her life in what appears to be an instance of accidental drowning while on a boat trip with her 4-year-old son at California’s Lake Piru.

Rivera was confirmed missing after the July 8th trip and, after a five day search, her body was recovered and formally identified yesterday (July 13th).

An outpouring of emotion from fans was matched by that of many of her celebrity peers.

Billboard have announced a huge overhaul of their rules in direct response to the popularized practice of bundling albums and singles with merchandise and concert tickets.

Initially permitted as a means of recognizing the change in how the public consume music, the rules have been bent in earnest by several artists looking to maintain commercial viability. Often to extremes that have been critiqued en masse.

And Billboard has had enough.

Today, the industry bible has published updates to their rulebook designed to “more accurately reflect consumer choice” and to “level the playing field for all artists.”

Billboard done so to counter what it effectively says has been exploitative efforts used to benefit sales – given that traditional units still carry more chart weight than industry-leading streaming formats.

Per our previous report (click here to read more), missing ‘Glee’ actress Naya Rivera was presumed dead after her 4-year-old son was found alone on a boat in Ventura County, California’s Lake Piru.

In the days since, her mother and brother joined local law officials in the search for the 33-year-old and donned life vests to comb through the murky waters where she was believed to be last seen.  During the search, investigators found Rivera’s ID and a purse –  leading them to surmise the actress may have drowned.

Their endeavors came to a close today.

Hours after it was reported an unidentified body was discovered in the vicinity where she was last believed to have been seen alive (click here to read more), law officials have organized a press conference to confirm what many feared.

July 13 marks what would have been the 71st birthday of Kanye West‘s late mother Donda.

To commemorate the occasion, the GRAMMY winner unveiled a heartfelt musical tribute in the form of a new song titled in her honor.

“There can never really be justice on stolen land,” her voice can be heard saying on the track over KRS One‘s ‘Sound of Da Police.’ “Are you really for peace and equality? Or when my car’s hooked up — know you wanna follow me? Your laws are minimal because you won’t even think about the real criminal.”

Later, Kanye chimes in with:

“Mama I need you to tuck me in / I done made some mistakes and they rubbed it in,” raps Yeezy. “I know you and grandma had enough of them / Why I gotta be so stubborn then / I’m doin this one for y’all / So we can end racism once and for all.”
