John Legend is wasting no time activating the promotion for his latest jam ‘A Good Night.’

For just hours after debuting the BloopBop® assisted bop, he’s premiered its official video.

Uniquely filmed entirely on a Google Pixel 2, the visual was directed by Mishka Kornai who used 23 of the devices during the 14-hour shoot to bring the clip to life. Cameos include an appearance from ‘Insecure’s Jay Ellis .

Speaking on the concept, Legend said:

“The song and the video are about a magical night where you (unexpectedly) meet someone you immediately connect with and can envision a future together.”

On shooting the video on the Pixel 2, the crooner added:

“We thought it would be cool to shoot it on Pixel because the camera is amazing and we were fascinated by the idea of using a smartphone to film a big budget music video, a video that brings the smartphone dating experience to life.”

Flop.

Much like ‘epic,’ ‘diva,’ ‘legend,’ and even ‘copycat,’ the word’s found itself used in overabundance in modern music.  Despite a landscape where streaming has become the lay of the land and those who can successfully navigate to Billboard’s perch primarily by some other mean (i.e. pure sales) are few and far between, those who fail to make huge impacts via streaming or sales are often branded…well…flops.

The term’s one Urban pop singer Tinashe‘s battled all often since her 2014 hit, ‘2 On,’ failed to produce a follow-up with as much commercial fanfare.  With numerous swings at the bat via succeeding singles from ‘2 On’s parent album, ‘Aquarius,’ a mixtape (‘Night Ride’), and releases from the incarnations of her April 13th due sophomore LP, ‘Joyride,’ T’s chances for chart success – admittedly – have certainly exceeded many in her shoes were afforded.

And, while the attempts have certainly not lacked on the qualitative front nor in critical acclaim, the undeniable neglect from the music buying public at large has not fallen on blind eyes from fans, haters, nor the singer herself.  Recently taking to our friends at ‘Vulture,’ the songstress directly dishes on her feelings about being called “a flop,” the revamp of ‘Joyride,’ and so much more.

John Legend‘s trying to get you on the dancefloor with his latest cut, ‘A Good Night.’

Produced by Bloodpop, the tune – announced this week via the 10-time Grammy winning singer’s ‘Breakfast Club’ interview – comes just days after the singer thrilled NBC audiences with his portrayal of Jesus Christ in the live TV musical, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar.’

Now, this R&B superstar has his sights set on his own creations once again.  A year-and-a-half after blessing fans with his fifth studio album, ‘Darkness & Light,’ could ‘Good Night’ be Legend shedding light on the sonic direction of his new project?

We are just hours away from the long-awaited release of Cardi B‘s debut album, ‘Invasion of Privacy.’

As anticipation for the project has certainly reached its most feverish pitch, the rapstress will undoubtedly still slide her heels across the promo trail to ensure maximum awareness before its first full sales tracking week closes.

Already lined up for ‘SNL,’ ‘The Tonight Show,’ and other prominent viewing spots, radio and print will likely see an onslaught of Cardi as well.   The first of many sights came via Apple Music & Beats 1 as the ‘Bodak Yellow’ beauty sat down to not only dish on the project, but of course those pesky pregnancy rumors and alleged beef with Nicki Minaj.

Did she finally lift the top of the truth or is she still leaving fans in suspense?  Look inside to find out:

BET are building on the success of their New Edition biopic by honing in on the story of its most controversial member – Bobby Brown.

Aptly titled, ‘The Bobby Brown Story’ is set to blaze the box later this year and will be broadcast as a two-part event.

Anchored by Woody McClain, who reprises the role of Brown from the New Edition flick, the biopic promises a warts and all insight into the life of R&B’s most-prolific bad boy.

No stone will be left unturned. As such, viewers will see his solo run, rocky relationship with Whitney Houston (played by Gabrielle Dennis), and his struggles with drugs all play out.

Ahead of the film’s September premiere, EW have shared a first look.

The life and legacy of Whitney Houston continues to prove fascinating for the masses six years on from her tragic death.

A litany of projects have been released since – including live albums and biographical broadcasts.

The latter has been most controversial: case in point Lifetime’s polarizing ‘Whitney’ pic and Nick Broomfield’s documentary ‘Can I Be Me’ (which was well-received but critiqued by the singer’s family due to its heavy focus on her sexuality).

In a bid to tell the story on their terms, the diva’s estate have teamed with Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald for what they’re billing as the definitive doc film – ‘Whitney.’
