From the onset of his career Grammy-winning rapper Eminem has been a dominant force in music. Easily capturing the top spots of both the Hot 100 and Billboard 200, his respective releases would also earn high placements on year-end charts with ease.
That nearly two decade year trend came to a halt in 2017 when his latest album, ‘Revival,’ not only delivered the lowest first week sales of his career since his debut album [click here to read more], but the set has also failed to garner a top 10 single to date. Again, the feat of missing the top 10 all together is one he hadn’t accomplished since the release of 1999’s ‘The Slim Shady LP.’
There was promise when his Ed Sheeran-assisted single, ‘River,’ made quite the splash with a #11 debut on the Hot 100 last week. Unfortunately, much like Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’ partner Beyonce and her ‘Walk on Water’ duet with the rapper, the pull wasn’t enough to keep Em buoyed in the top 20 as this week ‘River’ sank right outside the top 40.
