Nicki Minaj was in good spirits when she arrived at the Times 100 Gala last night.

There to celebrate her inclusion on its exclusive list the rapper, sans her blonde wig and plaster of paris, rubbed shoulders with her peers as well as bump into the controversial figure that is Donald Trump.

Almost one week has passed since the untimely death of music icon Prince – aged just 57.

As the world continues to process the profound loss, soulful crooner D’Angelo is the latest name to honor the trailblazing legend.

On the most recent episode of ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ the singer was joined by Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum‘s cover band Princess to perform ‘Sometimes It Snows In April.’

Conveniently coinciding with the release of her new video, ‘The Big Beat,’ fans of Azealia Banks may lend the rapstress a collective side-eye for the timeliness of her ‘anti-Lemonade'(Beyonce) rant last night.  But, after a quick view of the visual – the latest release lifted from her ‘Slay-Z’ mixtape – we’re certain that pause will turn to praise.

Indeed, living up to the title of its parent project, the ‘Beat’ is 3 minutes and 56 seconds of pure house hop slayage – something Banks is accustomed to delivering.

Ariana Grande is still hot on the promo trail in support of her forthcoming 3rd studio LP ‘Dangerous Woman.’

As the album’s title track clings to the top 20 on the Hot 100, you can expect to see the pop princess pop up on your television and radio to continue her quest to return it to its former top 10 glory.  Her latest stop came on last night’s ‘Fallon’ where she not only delivered a dynamo performance of the tune, but also gave an interview where she dished on its parent project (in stores May 20), her modeling dog (Toulouse), and so much more.

Did you miss it?  If so, see it below:

rihanna thatgrapejuice 9 weeks #1 billboard hot 100

After an impressive 9 consecutive weeks atop the Hot 100, Rihanna‘s 14th #1 single – ‘Work’ – has finally taken a bow from the tally’s perch.  Dethroned by Desiigner‘s ‘Panda,’ the song’s 9 frame reign fell just one week short of matching her personal best (see:  2011’s ‘We Found Love’ which was on top for 10 consecutive weeks).

However, fans shouldn’t worry for too long.  For, as ‘Work’ works its way down the charts, the swift ascension of its successor, ‘Needed Me,’ may see Rih back on top before she knows it.  Until then, check out this week’s full chart check – singles edition:

It looks like Azealia Banks isn’t the only rapstress in trouble for sharing her opinion on some aspect of Beyonce‘s sixth album ‘Lemonade.’

Once dodging Twitter attack for “cultural misappropriation” and referring to herself as a “runaway slave master,” Aussie rapstress Iggy Azalea is now finding herself on the opposite end of the heated “racism” argument – now pointing the finger at terms she deems racially offensive.  Joining the conversation as the #Beyhive continue their search to pinpoint the “Becky” referred to in Bey’s controversial tune, ‘Sorry,’ Iggy Iggz weighed in on the term’s usage all together.  After she asserted its offensiveness, the #Beyhive weighed in to give her…well…even more reasons to be offended.

It’s safe to say, like arch nemesis Banks, Iggy should’ve kept her word when she promised to leave Twitter:

prince-2016

Given the send off a music royal of his stature deserves, Princewho passed away unexpectedly last week (April 21) – has jumped to the top of the Billboard album charts with his ‘greatest hits’ project.

Also occupying the #2 spot with his magnum opus ‘Purple Rain,’ Prince’s reign over the Billboard 200 is all the more impressive considering the lack of streaming availability afforded his projects.  In other words, if it was as widely available as its nearest competitors, the damage he would’ve done to charts this week would almost be unfathomable.

Alas, with a whopping 179,000 and 69,000 equivalent albums moved respectively (all on the last day of tallying last week), the sets hop over the week’s previously projected competitors for #1 & #2Rihanna‘s ‘Anti’ and Sturgill Simpson‘s ‘Sailor’s Guide To Earth’ – for the wins.

Leave it to Prince to go out on top.  Tuck in below to check out this week’s full chart check:

beyonce lemonade azealia banks feminist

Earlier this year Azealia Banks vowed to take a permanent hiatus from Twitter.  However, as our good sis Jazmine Sullivan once wailed, ‘forever don’t last long.’

For, in a move to redirect #Beyhive stings from the mysterious Beckies of the world to herself, Banks took to Twitter to rant about Beyonce‘s hotly-selling new project ‘Lemonade.’  Accusing the songstress of being ‘anti-feminist’ and even plagiarizing some of the album’s critically acclaimed content, Banks is reaching for wig glue after questioning the validity of some of ‘Lemonade’s insinuations (namely those surrounding Jay Z‘s alleged infidelity).

Do you agree with her rant?  Or, is it just ole AB looking to cash in on some media shine?  You tell us:

With the masses drinking up Beyonce‘s ‘Lemonade’ in their (hundreds of) thousands, it’s clear the project’s movie component was a fruitful venture.

Unleashed on HBO this past Saturday, the concept short – which is based on “every woman’s journey of self knowledge and healing” – was announced one week ahead of its premiere.

Feverish anticipation ensued, but how many tuned in?

Rita Ora has broken her silence.

The Brit-bred singer has been the focus of much speculation following Beyonce‘s allusion to infidelity in her relationship on new album ‘Lemonade.’

As widely known, the ‘Body On Me’ belter was Jay Z‘s protégé during her time at Roc Nation – which recently came to an end amid legal drama last December.

That connection led to some pockets of the BeyHive swarming Ora’s Instagram page after noticing that the star posted this image several days before ‘Lemonade’ was poured out on HBO.

The snap saw fans assume Ora was the “Becky” described on the song ‘Sorry’ – this despite dragging and lashing Rachel Roy for the same charge.

A claim she has responded to.
