Today ushers in the release of the R&B crooner’s long-awaited debut album – which he’s steadily been introducing to the masses since 2011.
The New Orleans native – who was handpicked by Beyonce to open on her ‘Mrs Carter Show’ tour – possess a voice and commitment to craft that we feel is best relay-able as “Modern Motown” – in that it’s rich, emotive, and resonating.
For us, each of these characteristics serve as the foundation of the LP which, upon release today, has been earning praise from critics the world over. And with deserving reason too – the album is stellar and, from our vantage point, could and should be in contention for Grammy’s come next year.
