Upon her explosive arrival on the scene, some were led to believe Azealia Banks was anything but fond of fellow Femcee Nicki Minaj, by way of remarks she had made on the latter’s ‘horrendous wigs‘.

With a video shot, the song expected to premiere on radio this week, and confirmation of a judging/promo slot on American Idol, Mimi’s current project is already being handled better than her last (see: ‘Memoirs’).

And as one of the industry’s last true “divas”, we hope she embraces that status and delivers something truly compelling (versus the nursery rhymes she’s been peddling for the last few years). I guess the first taste of whether she has will come when ‘Triumphant’ arrives. Let the countdown begin…

Mariah Carey may be shooting the video for her new single ‘Triumphant’ today, yet that didn’t stop American Idol‘s newest judge from glamming it up for Russell Simmons’ 13th annual Art for Life gala in New York last night.

Accompanied by husband of four years Nick Cannon, the premium diva joined the likes of LA Reid, Babyface, and Melanie Fiona at the star-studded charity event which raised over $2 million for art programmes.
