Pharrell Williams is riding higher than high these days. Indeed, the hitmaker is quite literally smiling at the top after smash ‘Happy’ bounced to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

With new album ‘G I R L’ due in a mere matter of days, Columbia Records’ latest signee sat down with GQ to promote, promote, promote.

During the candid chat, the 40-year-old (yes, 40!) dished on what fans can expect from the set, as well as her first foray into the world of solo-dom – 2006’s ‘In My Mind’.

Refreshingly frank, the Neptunes frontman admitted that the project “had no purpose”.

Much to the delight of her fans based in the city, February 25th saw Beyonce touch down in Manchester to rock the “Manchester Arena” with her record breaking “Mrs.Carter Show.”

There, redeeming herself after delivering that Grammy 2014 performance, the stage-slayer performed an electric rendition of her hit single “Drunk in Love”, complete with fresh choreography, brand spanking new fashions and a crowd that may have been one of her livest yet.

As Chris Brown & Jason Derulo fly the flag for Urban Pop on the Billboard Hot 100, their older brother Omarion sets his sights on more sensual ground this year, readying the release of his new album “Sex Playlist.”

Danity Kane may still be cooking up their album, but that hasn’t stopped the group from serving up new material – both solo and as a collective.

The latest cut comes courtesy of member Dawn Richard, who has put her unique spin on Katy Perry‘s chart smash ‘Dark Horse’.

Christened the ‘Unicorn Remix’, the track was recorded during a break at a recording studio session for DK.

Speaking on the re-fix,  Dawn said: “It’s always fun to be in the lab with Noisecastle III. We were working on the Danity Kane project and decided to randomly take a break and this happened lol… For sh*ts and giggles… Something only the hearts can appreciate.  We always do things with our little twist.  Done in true heart music form.”

Despite premiering to favourable reviews, Mariah Carey‘s ‘You’re Mine (Eternal)’ has been wallowing in the mire since its release two weeks.

Indeed, the track had been taking colossal drops daily on the iTunes charts – crashing out of the top 1000 last week.

And while ‘Mine’ managed a #88 debut on the Billboard Hot 100, it only did so largely due to streams of its accompanying music video.

The singer’s ever-loyal Lambs needn’t fret, though. At least not as much. For the track has rebounded. Somewhat.
