The nominations for the 2022 Golden Globe Awards have been announced – and it’s good news for the likes of Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Will Smith, Jennifer Hudson, Issa Rae, and Aunjanue Ellis.

As some of Hollywood’s most notable names, they have racked up noms for their efforts in titles including ‘House of Gucci,’ ‘King Richard,’ Respect’, ‘Pose’ and ‘Insecure.’ 

The announcement comes at a unique time for The Globes, which won’t be airing its annual ceremony on NBC amidst drama surrounding the diversity of the HPFA.

President Helen Hoehne deemed 2021 “a year of change and reflection” for the Globes and added:

“For the past eight months we have worked tirelessly as an organization to be better We also have 21 new members. The largest and most diverse in our 79-year-old history. Not only have they brought in a fresh perspective but ideas that will help us continue to evolve.”

‘Queen of Twitter’ Dionne Warwick (as she is known by some) has expressed royal disappointment in the recently greenlit big screen biopic of her late cousin, Pop icon Whitney Houston.

Warwick, who is no stranger to making headlines for her outspoken nature, had already darted sharp words the way of the Houston estate when she called the ‘I Will Always Love You’ singer’s hologram tour ‘stupid’ and a ‘waste of time’ (as we reported here).

With award season in full swing, expect the year’s best and biggest in entertainment to be gearing up to grace the stages of annual award show staples to perform and accept coveted trophies.

The latest to unveil its highly anticipated list of nominees is the E! People’s Choice Awards.

Led by Justin Bieber (who scored a whopping 10 nominations across the music categories), Lil Nas X and Doja Cat – two of the year’s best-selling musical acts – also collected a bevy of nods with 6 and 5 respectively.  Olivia Rodrigo, easily the year’s breakout star, also garnered five nods for work found aboard her blockbuster debut album, ‘Sour.’

Despite execs at Warner Bros. giving a remake of Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner‘s 1992 film, ‘The Bodyguard,’ two thumbs up (as we reported here), fans of the ‘I Will Always Love You’ diva have been everything except in love with the announcement.

Taking to Twitter in droves, commenters slammed the news – with some arguing its untouchable soundtrack couldn’t be replicated while others cited Houston and Costner’s on-screen chemistry as the reason the classic movie shouldn’t be updated.

As the debate raged on about the forthcoming, Matthew Lopez-penned reboot, our friends at TMZ caught up with the late Pop icon’s ex-husband Bobby Brown for his two cents on the matter.  His response came as a surprise to no one.

Justice has finally been served in the case of George Floyd.

A jury took just 10 hours to deem former police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of murdering the unarmed Black man during an arrest on May 25 2020.

In a clip seen around the world, Chauvin visibly knelled on Floyd’s neck for more than 9 minutes as onlookers watched in shock – many of whom joined Floyd in articulating that he couldn’t breathe.

With millions worldwide praising the decision, so too are a number of notable celebrities – including Beyonce, Cardi B, and Mariah Carey.

Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin was no stranger to ruling over radio and charts during her 50+-year career, and now her legacy reigns over TV ratings courtesy of the critically acclaimed National Geographic series, ‘Genius.’

Toplined by EMMY, GRAMMY, and TONY Award-winning singer-actress Cynthia Erivo (alongside a cast of familiar faces that includes T.I., Luke James, Tweet, Omar Dorsey, Crystal Rucker, and the late Gospel legend Duranice Pace), the four-part miniserieschronicled Franklin’s humble Memphis beginnings to worldwide fame on the backs of hits ‘Respect,’ ‘Never Loved a Man,’ ‘Think,’ and more.

Despite the legend’s estate vocalizing their disappointment for being excluded from the biographical venture’s conception and planning, their protests did little to quell viewership as updated ratings reports reveal the 8-episode venture is the franchise’s most watched edition to date.
