It’s been quite the journey for Tinashe and new album ‘Joyride.’

Announced way back in 2015, the project was subject to several false-starts and abandoned launch singles.

Fast forward to this week and the LP finally landed in stores after a “tringle” was rolled out ahead of its release (see: ‘No Drama,’ ‘Faded Love,’ and ‘Me So Bad’ respectively).

After all the pre-roll-out hoopla, what are the album’s numbers looking like?

The answer awaits below…

Expect to see much of stageblazing Urban pop songstress Tinashe as she drives the promo trail in support of her brand spanking new album, ‘Joyride.’

Released April 13, the project – the long-awaited follow-up to her 2014 debut ‘Aquarius’ – is preceded by the French Montana & Ty Dolla Sign-assisted ‘Me So Bad,’ the Future-enlisted ‘Faded Love,’ and, of course, the bumping ‘No Drama,’ featuring Offset.

Having already blazed morning television with a solo live rendition of the cut (click here to watch), T tapped the Migos star to help with bringing the Stargate-produced song to late nite TV.  Curious how they fared?

It’s finally here!

After word of its arrival cranked as early as the top 0f 2015, spring 2018 can lay claim to the premiere of Tinashe‘s long-awaited sophomore album ‘Joyride.’

Revamped, repackaged, and reimagined multiple times ahead of its April 13 debut, the project in its current incarnate was preceded by three action packed singles (‘Me So Bad,’ ‘No Drama,’ and ‘Faded Love’) and called upon the talents of chart-topping rap talents Future, French Montana, Offset, and Ty Dolla $ign to assist.

Flop.

Much like ‘epic,’ ‘diva,’ ‘legend,’ and even ‘copycat,’ the word’s found itself used in overabundance in modern music.  Despite a landscape where streaming has become the lay of the land and those who can successfully navigate to Billboard’s perch primarily by some other mean (i.e. pure sales) are few and far between, those who fail to make huge impacts via streaming or sales are often branded…well…flops.

The term’s one Urban pop singer Tinashe‘s battled all often since her 2014 hit, ‘2 On,’ failed to produce a follow-up with as much commercial fanfare.  With numerous swings at the bat via succeeding singles from ‘2 On’s parent album, ‘Aquarius,’ a mixtape (‘Night Ride’), and releases from the incarnations of her April 13th due sophomore LP, ‘Joyride,’ T’s chances for chart success – admittedly – have certainly exceeded many in her shoes were afforded.

And, while the attempts have certainly not lacked on the qualitative front nor in critical acclaim, the undeniable neglect from the music buying public at large has not fallen on blind eyes from fans, haters, nor the singer herself.  Recently taking to our friends at ‘Vulture,’ the songstress directly dishes on her feelings about being called “a flop,” the revamp of ‘Joyride,’ and so much more.

With little over a week to go before Tinashe releases sophomore album ‘Joyride,’ the singer is reflecting on her roller-coaster journey.

It’s been far from plain sailing for the R&B star who has actively been trying to get the project off the ground for almost three years.

In a new interview with CR Fashion Book, she keeps it all sorts of real about the hurdles she encountered and even admitted to – at times – not being in the driving seat of the campaign.

She also seized the moment to clarify last year’s comments on colorism that saw many hit back at her.

Your thoughts?

As we reported here, Urban pop stageblazer Tinashe‘s delivered the final tune of the previously promised trio of releases to precede her long-awaited sophomore album, ‘Joyride.’

After the warm reception of tunes ‘No Drama’ (featuring Offset of Migos) and the Future-assisted ‘Faded Love,’ T’s returned with ‘Me So Bad.’  An island-flavored groove that’s enlisted the skills of rappers Ty Dolla $ign and French Montana to support, the tune’s drop comes just two weeks before fans will finally have their hands on its serially delayed parent album.

Was it worth the wait?  Listen inside and tell us:

Tinashe‘s new album may be called ‘Joyride,’ but the journey to its release has been more of a bumpy ride.

Indeed, the set was first announced almost three years ago and even spurned a like-titled tour. And yet it was plagued by one push-back after the other when its various “lead” singles struggled to ignite the charts.

And while one would assume that the eventual establishment of a release date would have the 24-year-old hungry to deliver commercially, she’s saying that’s not her priority.

See what we mean below…
