In 2018, Rap queen Nicki Minaj reigned in Hot 100 history books when she became the first female act (of any genre) to collect over 100 hits on the chart.  After only two years of owning the title, however, her “Minajesty” was dethroned by Taylor Swift in August 2020 when all the tunes from the Country-turned-Pop diva’s latest album, ‘folklore,’ were penciled on the tally – pushing her overall chart entry count to 113 (as we reported here).

Swift fans barely had two months to celebrate the win as Nicki tied the total when her remix to Sada Baby‘s ‘Whole Lotta Choppas’ impacted the hit list (as we reported just three weeks ago).

Fast forward to this week, Billboard has confirmed the 37-year-old has powered past Taylor again.

Apart from a rocking sets from Alicia Keys and ‘Midnight Sky’ maestra Miley Cyrus (as we reported here), iHeartRadio Music Festival 2020 was mostly a boys fest (among its bigger named acts) – a lineup few complained about once they got a load of jamming performances from the likes of Swae Lee, Bon Jovi, Kane Brown, Migos, Keith Urban, and more (as we reported here).

Among the most anticipated performers to line the bill was Usher – who is hot on the promo trail in support of his latest single, ‘Bad Habits.’

Previously tapped to host the 2020 ‘iHeartRadio Music Awards’ (which was canceled due to the global health crisis), the 8x GRAMMY winner was still able to show off his performance prowess for the platform thanks to a showing at last weekend’s festival.

Look inside to see him jet through a set list that included hits ‘Yeah!,’ ‘OMG,’ ‘My Boo,’ new song ‘Bad Habits,’ and more.

At onset, the future looked bright for ‘My Future’ – the latest single from teen sensation Billie Eilish.

Despite meeting the prediction of industry analysts who projected the Finneas-produced tune would open inside the top 10 of the Hot 100 (as we reported here), the song slipped a whopping 33-spots in the week that followed.

The most refreshed edition of the tally shows the tune has taken another double digit dip.

In an industry as fickle as the music business, longevity can be an elusive concept.  For the lucky (but often deserving) batch who manage to see their respective impacts survive changing musical trends and tides, a particularly fortunate class – even among that small group – vaunt relevance.

Granted, the ageist industry sees less women than men score the latter, but the list of female acts who have remained competitive far beyond their commercial peaks – especially on Billboard – is nothing to dismiss.

Look inside to see who made the ultra-exclusive list.  Don’t be surprised if your fave is absent…
