Rap trio Migos’ inaugural chart-topper, ‘Bad & Boujee,’ is proving itself no fly-by-night hit.

Flown to the top of charts (like its predecessor ‘Black Beatles’ by Rae Sremmurd) thanks to a viral response on social media, ‘Bad’ can also thank some serious streaming and fair digital sales for keeping it atop the charts for a 3rd non-consecutive week.

Billboard reports:

“The track tops the Streaming Songs chart for a fifth week with 47 million U.S. streams in the week ending Jan. 26, according to Nielsen Music. It also leads the audio subscription services-based On-Demand Streaming Songs chart for a fifth week (19.7 million on-demand clicks).

“Bad” rebounds 4-3 on Digital Song Sales (51,000 downloads sold, down 25 percent) and jumps 27-23 on Radio Songs, gaining by 20 percent to 49 million in airplay audience.”

As reported here, The Weeknd‘s ‘Starboy’ was behind Rae Sremmurd‘s #1 hit, ‘Black Beatles,’ on the Hot 100 for so long it actually tied the all-time record for most consecutive weeks at #2.  Finally, after a $.69 iTunes sale, the Daft Punk-assisted tune finally ascended to #1 last week, giving Weeknd his third chart-topper.

Now, as the refreshed Hot 100 reveals, that sale may have been just what the doctor ordered to get him to #1, but it damn sure wasn’t enough to keep him there.  For, after just 1 week of topping the tally, he’s already been ousted from its perch.

Curious to see who its new occupant is?  Tuck in below to see and also find out whom among your faves landed in this week’s new TGJ Chart Check:  Hot 100…

Thanks to a $.69 “holiday sale” on iTunes, ‘Earned It’ singer The Weeknd (born Abel Tesfaye) has finally earned his third #1 single on the Hot 100.

14 weeks after its debut (and after a lengthy 8-week run at #2 behind rap duo Rae Sremmurd‘s smash single ‘Black Beatles’), ‘Starboy’ – the title track to Tesfaye’s third album (which hit #1 on the Billboard 200) – ascended to the tally’s perch on the wings of strong digital downloads and streaming performance.  Billboard reports:

[‘Starboy’ logged] the chart’s greatest week-over-week sales gain (up 28,000), surging by 49 percent to 86,000 downloads sold in the week ending Dec. 22. “Starboy” tops the Hot 100 after eight nonconsecutive weeks at No. 2, tying for the most weeks spent at No. 2 before leading the list. It matches Justin Bieber‘s “Sorry,” which ruled at last on the Jan. 23, 2016, chart, and OutKast‘s “The Way You Move,” featuring Sleepy Brown (Feb. 14, 2004).”

Congratz are certainly in order for Weeknd and his ‘Starboy’ co-stars Daft Punk.  The achievement marks the group’s first run at #1 in the U.S.

The self-proclaimed “Queen of Rap,” Nicki Minaj, is close to laying claim to another impressive title:  Queen of Billboard’s Hot 100.

That’s right, Minaj – whose first charted hit came in just 2009 – had already surpassed legendary divas Mariah Carey, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Barbra Streisand, and Whitney Houston in a short time with her number of mentions on the singles chart.  Now – thanks to the recent entry of ‘Black Barbies’ – even contemporary female hitmakers Rihanna and Taylor Swift lie in her rearview.

The only person who’s blocking her from the “all-time” title?  Another musical monarch: Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin…

As Beyonce’s ‘Formation’ takes on singles from Adele (‘Hello’) and Rihanna (‘Work’) at the Grammys, more tea is being spilled about the blockbuster cut.

Earlier this week, producer Mike WiLL Made-It revealed that Swae Lee (of Rae Sremmurd) was behind the central lyric – ‘Ok ladies, now let’s get in formation’ – as the two freestyled on a car ride on the way to Coachella.

As many know, the track contains many standout lines, with the most renown being the Red Lobster rhyme.

If you thought the chart domination of The Weeknd’s new album, ‘Starboy,’ was limited to the Billboard 200, you are sorely mistaken.

For, much like his fellow Canadian entertainer/‘Live For’ co-star Drake, The Weeknd – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – has made history as the fourth artist (second male vocalist) to ever simultaneously place every song from one album on the Hot 100.

Billboard reports:

Additionally, all 18 songs from Starboy chart on the Hot 100; with 18 total tracks on the Dec. 17 chart, The Weeknd posts the second-most simultaneous entries in the Hot 100’s 58-year history; only Drake tallied more at the same time: 20 on the May 21 chart.

Find out where they (and all your other favorites from the day) landed on the refreshed TGJ Chart Check [Hot 100] below:
