It’s been a difficult 2010 for Mario. Indeed, the year has seen the R&B crooner struggle musically, going on to find public disfavour after being charged with assaulting his mother. Despite being vindicated shortly after, when her drug abuse was revealed to be the true issue, the dropping of the charges certainly didn’t make the headlines his initial arrest did.

In any case, the 24 year old is pressing on and beginning work on his 5th studio album. Not one to hold his tongue, however, he in a recent interview with VIBE magazine, revealed the continued “battles” he is having with his record label.

As the controversy over Keri Hilson‘s video for ‘The Way You Love Me’ rages on, the singer’s full interview with Perez Hilton has surfaced.

Seemingly unfazed by the mounting critique, a defensive Hilson slammed the media for their “double standards”, adding that she’s “a freak” who sometimes just wants to be “f*cked”. Her words not ours.

Ahead of the release of R. Kelly‘s new LP ‘Love Letter’ on December 14th, you can now stream the album in its entirety. Inspired by the soulful sounds of Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye, the LP is one of two to come from the R&B pioneer – the second being ‘Zodiac’ which is due next year.

There appears to be no stopping Brandy. Indeed, barely a week after wrapping her stint on Dancing With The Stars, the R&B songstress has hit the promotional trail in support of season 2 of her hit reality show ‘A Family Business’ – which premières this Sunday on VH1.

The 31 year old’s first stop was TBS’ ‘Lopez Tonight’, where she chatted it up with host George Lopez about her love life (or lack there of), what to expect from ‘A Family Business’ this season, her music, and more.

One would be forgiven for believing the controversy surrounding R&B star Fantasia had subsided. Indeed, it appeared the singer had rebounded from the drama with a critically acclaimed LP ‘Back to Me’ and another season of her ‘Fantasia For Real’ reality show.

However, if new reports are to be believed, the masses only knew select segments of what was a clearly dark period in the American Idol alum’s life.  That is until now.

With Kelly Rowland but one studio session away from completing her third solo album, the promotional ball for the project appears to be rolling once again. Case, point, example, this stunning new shot of the Destiny’s Child diva for the as the yet untitled LP (due  next year). Ms. Rowland really is rocking this short do’. I like.

Producers set to feature on the album include Darkchild, Tricky Stewart & The Dream, Rico Love, Ester Dean, Bryan Michael Cox and Jermaine Durpi. Roll on 2011!

From The Vault is back this week with a number from Truth Hurts. Serving as the first single off her ‘Truthfully Speaking’ LP, the DJ Quik-produced ‘Addictive’ was released in late 2002 and features rapper Rakim. However, the record has proven to be the only hit to date for the R&B singer, managing to peak at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100.

What makes this song so addictive (no pun intended) is the Hindi vocal sample. Every aspect of the production and the vocal arrangement was framed cleverly around that element and helped to make this a major club hit. It’s a shame that Truth Hurts remains a one hit wonder, though, because she really can sing.
