Since popping open a bag of Cracker Jill as the face of a new Frito-Lay campaign to empower women in sports, Normani has been in her bag about her long-awaited debut album.

The serially delayed project, which has been promised since 2019, is ‘definitely’ headed to shelves this summer according to one of the R&B diva’s latest interviews.

But, just as her dedicated fans (affectionately called #NormaniNation) prepare themselves for the LP’s arrival, she’s added even more exciting news to accompany its rollout.

It’s still award season and the Billboard Music Awards 2022 is up next.

Broadcasting live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 15, the event will honor some of the most commercially impactful releases over the last year.

Today has seen the much-anticipated nominations unveiled – and dynamic duo The Weeknd and Doja Cat lead the pack with 17 and 14 nominations respectively.

Occupying similar spaces in the music realm makes it easy for fans to pit artists against each other.  Such is particularly the case for the likes of Chloe Bailey and Normani, who are not only two of the day’s top female steerers of contemporary R&B, but are equally renown for their sizzling stage performances.

Despite the sometimes negative comparisons, Bailey – as she’s putting the finishing touches on her forthcoming solo debut album – recently made headlines for confirming she’s eyeing a collaboration with the former Fifth Harmony star.

Despite the combined forces of BTS, Justin Bieber, Silk Sonic, Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X, and Billie Eilish on its performance roster, they – alongside the other chart-toppers who took to the stage – weren’t enough to Sunday’s GRAMMYs from failing to attract viewers (April 3).

Although early Nielsen ratings reports don’t indicate the lowest tune-in the Trevor Noah-hosted affair has ever courted, it was pretty darn close.
