Our friends over at Real Talk NY recently caught up with Cash Money’s latest signee Bow Wow. When quizzed on his relationship with the centre-piece of the label, Lil’ Wayne, the rapper revealed that he recently visited him in prison, relaying Wayne’s words of advice to him, and adding his own Two Cents on Hip-Hop’s problem with crime.

Hard at work on her third studio album, Kelly Rowland appears to be making a number of power moves to elevate her status.

Christina Aguilera performed at a mini concert at an exclusive Halloween party this weekend. The singer delivered renditions of several of her hits including ‘Genie In A Bottle’ and ‘Beautiful’ as well as covers of Etta James’ ‘At Last’ and Patti Labelle’s ‘Lady Marmalade’. Check out the footage below:
This week’s selection for From The Vault comes from Beyonce. ‘Work It Out’ served as the lead single from the ‘Austin Power in Goldmember’ film and was one of the singer’s first major attempts at solo success. However, despite the Tina Turner-inspired setup of the Mathew Rolsten-directed clip, and respectable promotion from her label, the song failed to enter the Billboard Hot 100.
By comparison, Beyonce’s bandmate Kelly Rowland’s duet with Nelly, ‘Dilemma’, was #1 on that tally for 10 weeks, initially climbing to the top spot without promotion and even before a music video has released.
Judging by the large disparity between the success of ‘Work It Out’ and ‘Dilemma’, it is quite puzzling that Beyonce’s label continued to focus on forging her solo career while almost ignoring Rowland altogether. In fact, it seems that Mathew Knowles ensured that his daughter’s first solo album, ‘Dangerously In Love’, was equipped with several of the industry’s then heavyweight producers whereas Rowland was given many of her leftovers.
Certainly this scenario provides ample evidence of the politics occurring behind the scenes at the Knowles camp. Indeed, why would they continue to emphasise only Beyonce’s endeavours but overlook Rowland who was, at that time, the more commercially viable act?
Imagine the kind of career that both artists would have had if given equal opportunities. Then again, they shoulda would coulda but didn’t. O well.
As Nelly gears up for the release of his new LP ‘5.0’, the video for set’s latest single ‘Move That Body’ premièred on VEVO moments ago.

Trick or treat? Indeed, that’s what we asked ourselves upon hearing that R&B singer Keri Hilson is set to release yet another single from her ‘No Boys Allowed’ LP in the form of ‘The Way You Love Me’. An epic video for which was shot earlier this week.

R&B star rocked the red carpet last night at the ‘Ultimate Face-Lift’ gala to benefit the VH1 Save The Music Foundation. The event, which took place at Lord & Taylor‘s in New York, was also attended by the city’s mayor Michael Bloomberg – who was snapped posing with the stunning ‘Ride’ singer.

Randomness: While we evidently take to Ms. Harris here at That Grape Juice, it’s impossible to side-step the fact there’s some serious BS popping off behind the scenes with this ‘Basic Instinct’ project.
All signs point to the album itself having been finished some time ago; yet, despite dropping one of the hottest videos of the year with ‘Gimmie Dat’, her promotional train has barely left the station. No televised performances and minimal interviews. Do her team expect to cram the bulk of her promo-push into the week of release and/or after? If so, they may be in for a rude awakening. Singles, as most know, are used as vehicles to drive album sales. Hence if the singles aren’t being pushed (and believe that both ‘Speechless’ and ‘Gimmie Dat’ are already available on iTunes), then what do they expect back in terms of album sales?
As sad as it is to say, it’s all looking rather bleak at the moment; which has me really itching to see Ciara manage to turn it all around. For, on her end – she appears to be fulfilling her obligations as an artist (delivering hit worthy material, bettering herself as a performer – both vocally and with the choreography); yet the forces around her don’t seem to be syncing to make it all work.
Regardless of how this all pans out, it will be oh-so-interesting to see what changes, if any at all, Ms. Harris makes (see: label, management, image) after riding this campaign out.
‘Basic Instinct’ hits stores December 14th.
Hip-Hop fans are no doubt counting down the days to the week of November 22nd. For, two of the genre’s most revered figures are set to release their respective LP’s then – Nicki Minaj‘s ‘Pink Friday’ and Kanye West with ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’.
During a recent interview with Hot 93.7, Minaj addressed the media pitting of her against West. Check out what she had to say below…
As the November 1st release date of Cheryl Cole‘s sophomore LP ‘Messy Little Drops’ draws nearer, its promotional machine has cranked up a gear – with the premiere of its second single ‘The Flood’.

Despite the collective thumbs down from fans and critics alike, Rihanna continues to push new promotional single ‘Who’s That Chick’; today debuting an alternate ‘night’ video for the cut.
The shockingly bad track is set to feature on her forthcoming LP ‘Loud‘, and is dually being used as part of her endorsement deal with Dortios.

Well documented is the fact that Kelly Rowland‘s latest project has been quite the roller-coaster. Now set for release next year, the album’s revised deadline has afforded the 29 year old studio time with Urban heavyweights such as The-Dream & Tricky Stewert, Jermaine Dupri, Johnta Austin and Brian Michael Cox.
Now, hitmaker Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins can be added to the list of collaborators on the project.
