Nice… the main pic had me a little nervous, I didn’t even recognize her at first. I though she was going for that Mariah Carey visison of love look. She looks good though, very cute and sassy in these photos. Good for her!

Kelly is drop dead gorgeous, & she is also gorgeous, natural w/o makeup or weave. Did y’all see her on Ustream w/ her real hair. GAWJUS!

  17. Aunt Jackie May 11, 2010

Kelly should be styled like this ALL the time. Love these pics. Perfect hair, great make-up (not overdone) and hot outfits that aren’t too revealing.

    Great!

  18. Dubs May 11, 2010

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

  19. Independent Thinker May 11, 2010

This girl is beyond stunning. How can anyone say that she doesn’t have “that look” that sales records(that typical light skinned, light eyed, blond look). She is one of the most beautiful women in the industry;and her skin is one of the reasons she’s so beautiful. People really need to get over this whole “light is right” thing. Especially when it comes to artist. There is absolutely no reason that Kelly should not be able to sell just as much if not more than her lighter counterparts. Especially since she looks, behaves and most importantly SINGS better than most of them.
Sorry for my random rant. Seeing these pictures and realizing that they were shot for a magazine that will only be distributed in Africa reminded me that Kelly has yet to be given the opportunity to cover that type of magazine in the U.S. I love Africa but I don’t live there. I want to see Kelly on the cover of magazines where I live(the U.S.). She’s never graced the cover of Cosmo,Elle,Seventeen,Marie Claire,Harpers Bizarre or Vogue in my country and I for one think that’s a shame. However, I would expect that from those particular magazines(it’s a rarity they feature any woman who does not pass the paper bag test) but I can not for the life of me figure out why Kelly has never been given an exclusive or a cover shoot for Essence or Ebony. Two very prominent African-American magazines. Kelly hasn’t had one cover(that wasn’t a group shot) on either of these magazines over the course of her eight year career as a solo artist, but Beyonce(and I’m only bringing her name up to prove a point) has had eight to ten covers between the two(Essence and Ebony). I’m not knocking the fact that Beyonce has obviously been given more opportunities to shine than most of her industry peers(especially the ones with a deeper complexion)but it is ridiculous. Not everyone relates to,wants to be like or wants to see Beyonce. Some of us actually want a more accurate or vast representation of what African-Americans look like.

O.K. I’ve written my essay for today. I’m sorry. This is just a sensitive issue for me. Although I am what most people would consider a light brown woman(I’m not as chocolate as Kelly but I’m not high-yellow like Beyonce) I still love my ebony-skinned sisters and I would like to see more of them doing it big in this country and being recognized for it.

In closing, I love my lighter sisters too. We’re all family and none of us have any control over the skin we’re wrapped in,but we do live in a world where “Fair” skinned women are given the advantage. Especially in the entertainment industry. This needs to stop. It’s time to wake up people.

I want to say once again, Kelly looks stunning. This photo shoot is incredible. She looks like she’s getting her model on. I’m not mad at her one bit. Keep doin’ ya thang Kelly; just don’t lose your integrity, dignity or class while you’re doing it. Stay real, stay strong and stay beautiful. While the rest of us keep waiting on the world to change.

  21. 2bad2bme May 11, 2010

YESSSS HAIR MAKE UP AND EVERYTHING IS FLAWLESS

  22. ~TeAM WeeZY~ May 11, 2010

    Stunning!

  23. NikkiIsChillin May 11, 2010

This woman is a Chocolate Goddess. She’s representin’ for the sistas! I LOOOVVE the first shot. I love all these photos! How is Ms. Kelly not on more magazine covers???? She looks like a supermodel.

  24. NikkiIsChillin May 11, 2010

@ Independent Thinker. I agree with you 100%. Makes me want to give out copies of the book “The Color Complex.”LOL! We are all beautiful. We come in different shades and tones and that adds to our diverisity and beauty. Ive even heard it said that dark/black models don’t sell well on covers. Well, that can’t be true, just look at Naomi Campbell. But even she has taken the fashion industry to task for being bias. Hopefully, we will see the stunningly beautiful Ms. Kelly on more covers soon.

  25. Last Boy on Earth May 11, 2010

Ok I like Kelly but “international mover and shaker” ? She only had 1 hit song and the song wasnt even hers, it could have been other person singing it and it would have the same success, please dont be delusional

  26. Last Boy on Earth May 11, 2010

And lmao @ the ones saying that she is a black godess and should be in more covers, her tone in this magazine isnt even her real tone of skin, smh

  27. PLAIN AND SIMPLE May 11, 2010

She is beautful. Not 2 over that top like showing to much skin. I like that.

  28. Aunt Jackie May 11, 2010

    @ Last Boy On Earth

“It could have been any one else singing it and it would still have been a hit”

Would it have been a hit? No one knows. Couldn’t you say the same thing of songs written for anyone else….say Rihanna for instance? That statement you made seems a little silly. It’s Kelly’s hit because she’s the voice on the song. Just like anyone else’s hit songs.

Oh, Rude Boy would have been a hit if anyone else would have sang it. Ummm I don’t think so….

“International Mover and Shaker” seems appropriate for Kelly. She’s featured on a World Cup song with artists from all over the African continent, and has really adopted an international sound with her new project. The fact that she’s reaching out, purposely (partially because she isn’t accepted that much in the US) to an International crowd makes her a mover and shaker. She’s more popular abroad than in the U.S.

I didn’t see that title TGJ gave her as an exaggeration. Though super-mega-pop star would certainly be an exaggeration!

  29. honeygirluk May 11, 2010

  33. kveick May 11, 2010

  34. BEYONCE VS. THE WORLD May 11, 2010

  35. Renee May 11, 2010

    @ Independent Thinker

I agree with you! It’s refreshing to come across a post where intelligence is shown. So often on this blog, I come across child-like, silly comments. Kelly is STUNNING in these photos. However, like you mentioned, I don’t live in South Africa. I would like to see Kelly on American magazine covers as well. Hopefully, in the future we will see this beautiful woman on American magazine covers.

  36. joshua May 11, 2010
