It’s official: Christina Aguilera’s ‘Bionic’ has bombed. According to Hits Daily Double, the album has only managed to sell an embarrassing 111, 838 units. This marks the lowest 1st week sales in the history of Aguilera’s career.
So that’s the way the cookie crumbles. It seems that the industry has truly left Aguilera behind. With a flop single and a poor-selling album, there is no question that people just aren’t interested in what she has to offer anymore. It’s a shame though because ‘Bionic’ is truly a solid effort. Bye.

You people want to tease Mariah because Memoirs tanked but Mariah has been in the music biz for 20 years, earned the utmost respect as an singer and songwriter thus no longer having anything to prove. Mariah can retire today and would be relevant thus selling more albums. Plus, she has 18 #1 BB Hot 100 singles and is very close to surpassing the Beatles with the most US #1 hits. With over 160 million albums sold, Mariah shits all over Christina’s career.

I think that it’s due to an unofficial ban on Xtina with radio! I wish the fans were able to listen to songs that we request. That all went out the window and now the brain washing and programming at radio dictates what becomes a hit. Xtina’s album wasn’t getting promotion at the start of this project because of this beef. Bionic is a quality album and would have been sucessful in 2008. Now that things have changed(the industry as well as a few other things) Xtina is no longer able to benefit from having a solid project the way she used to. When radio stop fading these artist out and playing their old hits and intentionally neglecting to play their newer material , we will have some justice! I don’t think that Xtina was losing her fanbase, I just think it’s design for her to have a hard time. I still respect real artist and 2 to 3 years from now things may return back to normal. This is exactly what I am saying. When the media and the industry wants to get rid of the old heads or anyone for that matter they do it in such a slick way. Its no coincidence that she went from selling 300k to 100k come on now. She left for 4 years so it was basically like she set herself up to be left in the dust. Yahoo was writing about how she is irrelevant on their front page. They even had Vibe magazine talking about how she needs to fix her career. VIBE MAGAZINE PEOPLE! Nobody was interested in her music and when I say nobody I mean radio. NMT is not that bad at all and I bet if Gaga released it it would be #1 right now. Its just the person that is singing it is not relevant to the radio Djs or the media anymore. And like ROYALKEV said it was basically designed for her to flop. They didn’t give anyone a chance to let her come back and appreciate her music. She was shut down from the beginning. I have purchased all 3 of her past studio albums but this “Bionic” era just wasn’t working for me. But I have to say, in this state of music where albums barely sell, it might not be as big of a “flop” as this Trent states it is. I’m wondering what Christina and her label are thinking right now.

I really don’t think these album sale figures is a failure compared to the sales of other albums on the charts remember its only been out for only one week / I don’t think y’all remember “STRIPPED” when she release “DIRRTY” lol that song only peaked at NO. 48 and then at the time of release of her second single the album sales increase because of “BEAUTIFUL”.But clearly the reason for “XTINA” not doing well is because of the skanky song “Not Myself Tonight” NO.23 wrong choice for a first single. I must say I love the album I think she really did an outstanding job by doing electronic music and the ballads are still raw and amazing. The album will gain momentum with the release of a second single as well as the tour she needs to hurry up if she wants to save her album sales.I do believe that her sales will reach platinum status by the end of the year. i love BEYONCE god im like ahhhhh when i hear her sing and ill never forget the halo performane for the little australian girl ive cried every single time ive watched it. it’s true at times christina goes overboard on the vocals like she wants to show she has something to prove but it ends up being meh.when she just SINGS though it’s such a beautiful sound and voice, in all honesty i think she released bionic 2 years later than she should have.
Unfortunately from the performance of her other LPs this doesnt really matter to me. I think that Christina will show and prove in the long run that she knows what she’s doing. Most artist these days open with these big numbers then tank 2-3 months down the road. I don;t see this being the case I think its going to pick up once she releases another song, w/ a hook LOL

I know it’s a tough blow for the Christina fans but attacking/hating other artists won’t change the fact that Christina’s album is flopping hard. Christina has a great voice (when she’s not screaming or straining) BUT, she needs BETTER SONGS!
Hate to say it but I don’t see this album picking up, as much as I think it is a good effort and a listenable album, I don’t see any other songs on the album making a hit. Maybe “You Lost Me” which Xtina is already pushing but doesn’t seem to be getting people buying the album.. This is a wait and see situation, it’s too early to call it a flop but not looking good.
You know Trent, the way you generalized and summed up her career because of record sales on ONE album is incredible to me. What if people just didn’t like the music. So they didn’t buy it this time around. You live and you learn and now she knows that her funs were expecting something different and maybe she’ll deliver next go round. Back in the day, it took months for albums and singles to reach #1. Records had a chance to grow on you. This time, ppl look at 1st week sales and throw away the rest…WTHECK is that? Every Artist has an album that’s least successful than the others, and this is Christina’s. This album was also quite experimental for Christina, using more electronic sounds, so hopefully she’ll learn and move on. Also, the term “comeback” is silly, she has been absent from the music scene because she was raising a family, and lets not forget she released a Greatest Hits back in 2008 that had some success.
Can’t wait to see what she does next. Lets hope we see another album from her in the next couple of years, doing what she does best. She has one of the most amazing voices in the world, I doubt this is it for her, she’s just getting warmed up.

On this record she failed to do that and this is why it is a commercial failure. She is a soul singer who incorporates R&B, Jazz and Blues. That is what she should be doing. she should not be making dance music. Most of her fans want an album with soulfulness, an album with meaningful, heartfelt songs. She should deliver those songs with the beautiful voice she has. This album does not cut it. Its not going to get her a grammy either. I know many people will not want to hear this but if “Not Myself Tonight” does get nominated for Dance Recording it will certainly lose to Lady Gaga. This is an album that the general public will forget about by the end of this month.

I don’t get all this fights between fans! I am huge Xtina fans but I love so many other artist. My top artists: Xtina, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Black Eyed Peas, Robyn, Katy Perry (love her for not taking herself so seriously!), Korn I can’t imagine my iTunes witout all these artists and many more. It’s fascinating that on the same blog where people scream about record sales now they are no longer important, interesting!! I think Bionic could still have some legs later on (even though critics are not as favorable), Whether people want to realize it or not, radio is absolutely controlled by labels, they are given the songs to play. Alot of the artist receiving the most play are under Univeral Music Group ( interscope,def jam, etc) which is the MOST POWERFUL music group so there may be some truth to some of the posts above.
No one is really moving that much music anymore, in fact, the Thom Yorke of Radiohead said that major labels are about to fold in a matter of months so who knows ( I think Usher said the same thing recently)? Christina will be fine whether the album “flops” or not, she may be embarrased but it is not the end of the world. Granted she did have a LOT of PROMO but things do happen.

Xtina is not just as simple as a singer, perfomer or celebrity, she is an artist, and so is Alicia Keys, Linkin Park and etc.
i do confess that XTINA is not as popular as sweetdumpling Britney Spear, or sells as many as Brit does. Also Beyonce sold more than Britney or Christina. But they are of different styles and sometimes attracting to different people. If music start to set up a standard, then people will have less choice, and all the world will just like eating in the same McDolnal’s or whatever.
In those female artist, Britney is also one of my favourite, her voice is very sweet, the lyrics are very catchy and she looks lovely, she is like a BIRTHDAY CAKE to me. “Toxic” is one of my all time favourite, I know Britney Spear knows how to stay top in Entertainment Biz. Brit’s “Baby one more time” , Xtina’s “Genie in the bottle” , N syc’s ” Bye Bye Bye” were my favourites when I was in high school. Christina phoned Britney several times to comfort her when she got lowest downturn in her life back in 2006.
Bee can control her voice and breath like playing a piano with perfect skills, “Irreplaceable”, “Sweet Dream” are just like African Drum with good beats. I just love Beyonce Live on stage. She is of course one of the greatest in R&B genre.
Mariah Carey’s voice is so great, I love her ballads and R&B. Although she is getting heavier because of her age, who cares? We love her voice! Mariah is lengendary in an era when there was no internet download. Christina has the highest respect for her, she mentioned 10 years ago when she got her first grammy, I watched the interview before. She also used to sing mimi’s “vision of love” when she got an interview as a young kid. The tabloids know how to exaggerate a small incident into a super large news. Those are trivial things common in our daily life because we are human, and we knows how to forgive. MC and CA have respect for each other, they do not have any feud at all.
BUT Xtina is very unique, she got something that Britney or Beyonce DID/DOES not process, the guts to take risks, she hates to be labeled as buble gang pop-singer, she fired her manager and obtained the freedom to choose her own music style she loves. She did different genres, jazz, r&b, blue, pop…every time she changed, she did amazingly well!!! Back2basics is very classic!!!! Christina got the abilility to face those critics that she knew will happen and uniquity ways to express herself about being vulnerable, being timid, being stronger, being happy, being a woman, and feeling sexier as she becomes an mom. Her voice is very infecting, she’s got the talent and creativity and knows how to express the feeling, the emotion through her vocal. Now she tried dance music, returned to her pop roots this time. Bionic is actually a super great album. This is first time i enjoy the electronic pop version of XTINA (meanwhile she also provides some great ballads like “lift me up”, “You lost me”, “I am”…, and i personally feel that it is the greatest xtina ablum till now. The bonus track “Monday Morning” is now my favorite dance music played in my ipod.
Some of you guys just are not able to know what is art, instead some of you just care about the sales, charts, britney vs christina, mariah vs whitney, beyone vs AK, or lady gaga vs katy perry, etc….and disses….ridiculous! Actually those singers supplies us with different choices, like coke, beer, or vodka, or like Franch food, Chinese, Tai food…
I know lady gaga is super popular and on top now like britney did ten years ago, but it is ridiculous for those PerezHilton-like people who constantly diss xtina because she jumps into a genre called “dance music”. Lady gaga’s perfomance is interesting, especially her wears, she is definately most popular now. But the American media should not follow Lady Gaga’s trend and give revenging,biased, or unfair review on Xtina, or forbid xtina trying dance music because many of you become “Monster”. Xtina will never be a treat to gaga as she has never been reaching the popularity as britney spears. More than that, xtina’s version of electronic dance and style is completely different from ladygaga’s except that they both show some homage to Madonna in their music videos. Xtina stated she would try electronic pop back in 2007 b2b tour. So pls stop dissing xtina, and her fans because you love lady gaga.

I’ve always thought people in Bulgaria (the country I live in) are haters and my dream was to communicate with people with different cultures because Ive always trusted that you’re more understanding, polite and kind. More mature in your development, if I must say. Now, reading this blog Ive convinced myself that haters around the world are just the same. Anyways, Christina pulled out an amazing album. Her voice sounds better than ever and each song has an unique touch. This album is not actually for the masses – it’s for people who cherish real music. Lyrics are unique, music is amazing. Have you even listened to it? Have you heard Birds of pray and Stronger than ever? I hardly doubt. It;s a masterpiece and those who have a decent taste and musical culture know that.
And blaming her for taking a 4 years break? Dudes, she became a mother, for Christ Sake. I doubt any of people who are hating on this blog have children because if they did, they wouldnt spend so much time on hating. Family comes before ANYTHING ELSE IN THE WORLD. Yeah, Beyonce and Rihanna, Lady Gaga (which I respect a bunch) can pull out an album every year and who of them all have a child? Freaking George Michael has only 4 studio albums in his 25 years old career and he’s still one of the most respected artist worldwide (and don’t go all f***** s*** on that).

Bionic is an amazing album. The production is excellent. So many sounds in every song. The more I listen to it, the more I find. An despite all the electro and disco twist, she still produces good pop melodies easier for all of us to follow.
She is not trying to take over the songs with her, possibly one of the best voices around, but instead it blends in such a way that it works 100%. Even when she shares a song, she allow the other artist to shine. I love the attitude.
She has done again. She has reinvented herself. They say she looks like Madonna, a very improved version I would say.
Basically. Well done girl. Keep on following your instints. Keep on looking so georgeous cause the more you show, the more I want to see.

I’m not like a lot of people up there who are genuinely excited about Christina’s failure, but…. I am truly happy that this album failed. I’m a huge Christina fan, always have been, but you can’t be gone for 4 years leaving true fans hanging, and then just come back and expect to have the same following, even after you’ve changed your style so dramatically. Bionic (to me) SUCKS!!! It’s her first album I haven’t liked at all! This album deserved to fail and I’m SO glad that an artist is finally be held accountable for releasing CRAP!

I really disliked this album, I understand that Christina likes to try new things, but I just think that this idea was nowhere near where she needed to go. This has nothing to do with how well or not well the industry is doing. I think that this album just does not demonstrate her true creativity.
She is one of the best singers of this age , and I think that if she puts all her resources to good use she will get somewhere. Back to basics was phenomenal, maybe going back to her roots is where she needs to be, instead of doing the total opposite ( which this album was- it was like complete blast to the future after a throwback album with a hint of stripped). My recommendation– her collaboration with Herbie Hancock was really great, do more jazzz!!! I still have huge hopes for her, I believe in her voice and her music. BRING IT XTINA!
