The first week sales predictions are in for Mariah Carey’s ‘Merry Christmas II You’. According to chart analysts at Hits Daily Double the record is expected to sell anywhere from 50-60k units judging by retail figures after its first day in stores. A respectable showing for a Christmas album released in November without a single live performance to support it.
‘Merry Christmas II You’ currently sits comfortably in the top 10 of both iTunes and Amazon will most likely debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 next week. By comparison, Carey’s first Holiday collection, ‘Merry Christmas’, debuted in 1994 at #30 on the chart with less than 45k sold before experiencing large increases in sales as the season progressed.
Taylor Swift’s ‘Speak Now’ is expected to maintain its position at the top of the Billboard 200 following an initial sales week of 1.044 million units. However, things aren’t looking too good for N.E.R.D. whose ‘Nothing’ album is predicted to debut with 17-20k in sales.
It’ll be funny if she sales more than predicted. But it really makes me no nevermind because the women is a legend, she has nothing to prove. But with tha being said, I wish she didnt remake this. The first was a classic.

She’s a legend. And anyways it’s November, so who actually goes to buy a Christmas album already? The radio stations in my country play X-mas songs, about early December, so there’s nothing wrong with these predictions.
I actually didn’t know her 1st Christmas cd opened with under 40K. I mean she was at the peak of her popularity back then so to have this new Christmas album selling MORE is a very good accomplishment indeed 🙂 Mariah should be proud! Plus I surely expect this cd to sell more and more as the holidays grow closer!!!

I’m was against this being made since they first announced it.
But I’m so happy she did!
Vocals were on point and the lyrics on the new xmas tracks, sound like Mariah.
She really has nothing else to prove, she can do whatever she wants in the industry.
She Is a Legend & and will go down in history as one of the best that ever did it!

To be honest, I think thats a great accomplishment when in regards to her first album= *40,000*… I was actually quite confused by that… Mariah was at the peak of her popularity then, she was spewing out number one hits- Dreamlover. No1 on the hot 100 for 8 weeks, Hero. No1 for 4 weeks, Without you. No 3 for 3 weeks 6 and then peaked at number 2 for seven weeks (being kept off the top spot by Celine dions ‘The power of love’ and Ace of Bases ‘The sign’ but no1 in the uk for 4 weeks… HMMMM!!!
Still, these sales predictions are only based on the *FIRST DAY* of release to retail stores which is not so bad, by the end of the week it could well leap into the *hundred thousands*… I was actually hoping it ould sell more than ‘Memoirs of and imperfect angel’ but… who knows… and LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to ‘Nerd’ (they were sold over 400,000 copies of their album in a week and one point. DANG. But CONGRAAAAAAAAAAAAAATS to ‘Taylor’. All the love from the U.K
Lol @ Mariah stans thinking this is good. An artist of her caliber should be selling @least over 150k in their 1st week, and she is nowhere near that. It is safe to call this another MAJOR FLOP in Mariah’s career. The album isn’t even well put together vocally, you can literally hear all of the editing that was done on it. The duet with her mom was the worst I ever heard of any duets.
She will not sell well through Christmas either, cause Susan will have that on lock, Mariah’s starpower has shifted down, and right now, Mariah is not the star Susan Boyle is, I know the truth hurts, but gotta tell it.

In 2010, Mariah is now fifteen years past her peak and is coming off two back to back flops. This is largely as good as its gonna get for this comedy…I mean christmas….album. If you honestly think this is gonna do any better than ‘THE REMIXES’ or ‘THE BALLADS,’ then I got a bridge to sell you.

Considering this is a christmas album, and it’s being released in the beginning of november, and she has done no promotion for it, and album sales are in the toilet right now, I’d say this is a pretty good start. Her last xmas album only sold 45,000 the first week. I think sales will pick up come december, because she’ll be performing on a bunch of talk shows, and SNL, and performing on a special on ABC in mid december, and performing at the christmas day parade at Disney World.
