New Song: Elijah Blake – ‘XOX ( Ft Common)’

Published: Wednesday 12th Dec 2012 by David

Get familiar with ‘XOX’, R&B stunner released by Rihanna writer, Elijah Blake.

Lifted from his hotly anticipated ‘Bijoux 22‘ EP- out today– the mid tempo number features none other than Mr. ‘Finding Forever’ Common, one of the many contributors to the Jay Z backed mix tape.

So, after giving it a few spins today, we’ve already certified this is a smash.

Not sure why?

Get into it below…

See what we mean?

Armed with a discernible hook, vocals that already have many a R&B loyalist pledging their allegiance and a unique take on what might be called a common theme, ‘XOX‘ cements Blake’s status as his genre’s most promising ‘newbie’.

In saying that, though its follow up ‘Talk To Me’ will undoubtedly strike a stronger chord with Hip Hop audiences, ‘XOX’ serves as the perfect introduction for an act responsible for crafting two of the year’s greatest hits

Reminds me of “all I want is you” by Miguel. I love Common, but I agree, they weren’t a good pair over this beat

My little brother keeps talking about this guy like he’s the new Drake but I don’t see the comparison. He sounds like a cleaner version of Usher or a hybrid between Frank and Weeknd.

The songwriting and vocals are on point, but the production is dated. Part of what made Climax so successful was Diplo’s work on that song. I just feel like they could’ve put more than a generic R&B beat to this. Don’t get me wrong, I like the song and I’ll definitely be checking for him, but I think he could’ve come a little stronger.

2017 has brought with it projects from some of today’s top titans – such Drake, Ed Sheeran, and Kendrick Lamar. Yet, this year is noteworthy on another front. Namely, the lengthy list of releases celebrating their 15th (yes 15th) anniversary. As the age adage goes: time flies. And, in reminiscing on the following,… Read More

While the streaming war seems to have cooled in recent times, Jay Z is taking major measures to heighten the exclusivity of his TIDAL platform. Earlier times saw services spar with exclusive albums by top-tier talent; yet with UMG releases forbidding that practice for any of its artists, Jigga seems to be taking… Read More
