Iggy Azalea spends her second week atop the ‘Billboard Hot 100’ this week, seeing her match a record set by ‘Happy’ singer Ashanti fourteen years ago!

Marking its second consecutive week atop the tally, ‘Fancy‘s current spot at #1 on the ‘Hot 100’ comes as sales and streaming points handed to the single by the general public made it the most popular song in the US once again, doing so its parent album ‘The New Classic’ moved 18,090 units in the last week.
Quite interestingly, its holding of the top comes despite suffering a number of dips since the last chart week, with Billboard Biz explaining:
“Fancy” crowns Digital Songs for a second week but decreases by 14 percent to 289,000 downloads sold in the tracking week ending on June 1, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It racks a third week at No. 1 on Streaming Songs, down by 3 percent to 13.5 million U.S. streams. (The song had soared last week by 44 and 66 percent in sales and streaming, respectively, after Azalea and Charli XCX performed it on the Billboard Music Awards on May 18).
With a fortnight spent at #1, Iggy becomes the second woman in US chart history to hold the #1 and #2 spots concurrently for multiple weeks, with her Ariana Grande-led ‘Problem’ now perched at #2. This, after R&B singer Ashanti did the same in 2002 thanks to the success of her #1 single ‘Foolish.‘
