Lauryn Hill may be many things, but punctual isn’t one of them.
The iconic songstress’ trademark brand of tardy struck again last night in France and left fans furious.

Currently on the European leg of her ‘MisEducation 20th Anniversary Tour,’ the former Fugees star was set to rock the Accor Hotel Arena in Bercy with a full-bodied show.
However, drama struck when the 43-year-old took to the stage 2 and half hours late. Even worse, strict curfew rules meant she performed for less than an hour. Reports are still pouring in, but many fans claim her set ran 32 minutes before being brought to an abrupt end.
A similar occurrence is said to have taken place in Brussels the night before, with the singer hitting the stage 1 hour and 40 minutes late and playing for 40 minutes.
As has sadly become customary, an apology letter was issued via social media. Hill wrote:

Much as we love her, it’s totally deserved.
She’s very much at a point where she’s better off showing her professionalism than promising it in letter after jarring letter.
At every level, she’s playing herself and her fans. Because even if it were a technical issue, she may need to look at her internal setup to ask why and how it keeps happening. Year after year. Country after country. Tour after tour.
Surely, if there any validity to her claim, it’s been long overdue for her to put the people and tools in place to rectify the matter? After all, it’s her name being mopped through the mire.
Like, no matter which way it’s diced or sliced, she’s in the wrong.
But no more apologies. Do better, be better.
When ppl stop buying tickets then she’ll learn her lesson. She’s been touring off this 1 album for years and it’s beyond me why ppl even give her any attention.

Some people go because they have extra money or have never bed to her show before. I would rather see her older concerts online than see her live. She is a disrespectful B|tch now. Concerts are at night so there is no excuse for lateness. U had all day to sleep so why u late?

I can honestly say that people truly do love her and when she’s on time she puts on a show. Better than most people who are out now. She is a true definition of what an ARTIST is. Now I’m not justifying her actions she needs to do aALOT better with time or get them right team of people behind her. I saw her over the summer and this was my second attempt after I brought tix a few years ago and she canceled twice. I was nervous but when she showed up she shut it down. She is a true talent and great ARTIST. Shame that she just can’t seem to get it right. Plus The Miseducation is an amazing album/classic that still can’t be touched to this day.
Lauryn is a clown. I can’t believe people still pay for her tickets with her constantly being late, worn out vocals, unrecognizable songs, diva like behavior for one 20 year old album and she is mentally ill. Fools!

Was going to buy tickets for her London show. My mind has been changed.
She has no excuse. Plus Belgium is next to France and there’s no time change.

At this point, I don’t feel sorry for ANYONE who purchases a Lauryn Hill concert ticket. She’s habitually late and unapologetic about it. If you go to her show, it should be expected. DEAL.
Anyone who turns up this late should automatically issue a refund or at least part there of. This i believe would soon stiffen your resolve to not be late next time. In fact lets test how sorry you are, a FULL REFUND.

Went to one of her shows in london almost 10 years ago. Disappointing is not the word. I have 6 witnesses as well. Let me describe my experience.
So we get there a good few hours early. Standing as well. Performing acts do their thing. They go off. We wait an hour. Her band comes on. They calibrate their instruments and start playing. So she should come out very soon. Wrong. 10 mins, 20 mins, 30 mins. She is not here. But the band are still playing. An hour nothing is happening and the band is still jamming. People start walking out. 90 mins later this lady runs out from the side of the stage. She is dressed like a bag lady. It’s July. It’s warm. It’s 28 degrees but she is wearing layers and has a fake Afro wig on, a wool jacket and a knitted wool hat and she is sweating buckets.
15 secs after she started screaming into the microphone, we realise it’s lauryn Hill. The crowd go wild.
She the proceeds to sing a crackhead version of all her songs. What do I mean? Well she was screaming the words into the microphone but you could not make out what song it was until 2 mins into it. Everyone is visibly stunned and people are walking out stunned. Suddenly she stops and the music stops.
She then gives a perfect accapella Version of an Etta names song and we think she is back on form and the rest of the concert might be something we would like and recognise.
WRONG. She was back to the Same crazy antics. 60% of the crowd has walked out. Some women are crying as there is definitely something wrong with her mental state. Going home and jumping on the computer it turns out she has a history of this and she has continued the same behaviour ever since.
To anyone thinking of going to see lauryn hill. Do her a favour and don’t go. It will only ruin the image you have of her.
Always a flight/traffic/time excuse. Here’s an idea: Use your knowledge of the last 20+ years in the business to anticipate these problems and plan accordingly by catching an earlier flight and getting to the venue early for a change. And she’s not such an amazing talent if she can’t transition with the times and create but one album in her whole career. Amazing is Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, Prince, Mariah…
Y’all know damn well she late as I’m so don’t come to the damn show on time! An artist that on-time and plays by the rules are plentiful- But there are artist that are Cray and talented as d’s – if you really want to see them

She was late at the Richmond Jazz fest so was Badu so they’ve both lost my support ain’t nobody got time for that. Don’t tour anymore or arrive the day before because you timing sucks!
