Mariah Carey’s ‘Charmbracelet’ Rockets Into iTunes Top 10

Published: Saturday 2nd May 2020 by Sam

Mariah Carey‘s ‘Charmbracelet’ is sparkling once again.

Fresh from ‘E=MC2 blasting its way to the top of the iTunes tally, Mimi’s 2002 LP is following suit.

Details below…

As at writing, the oft-underrated set has climbed to #6 on the US iTunes store:

Released as the follow-up to 2001’s career-threatening ‘Glitter,’ ‘Charmbracelet’ was the first fruit of Mimi’s then-new union with Def Jam.

Debuting and peaking at #3, the set was critically acclaimed but didn’t yield the sales or hits expected from a diva of her stature.

Instead, it’d function as the appetizer ahead of the main meal slay that ended up being ‘The Emancipation Of Mimi’ released three years later.

Still, it houses many a gem such as the blazing ballads ‘Through The Rain,’ ‘Bringing On The Heartbreak,’ and ‘My Saving Grace.’

Here’s hoping this renewed interest introduces a new set of ears to these gems and perhaps encourages Carey to integrate them into her present-day sets.

I love the charmbracelet record. My favorite tracks are The One and You Had Your Chance.

  2. Fancy BISH May 2, 2020

All the albums that have rocketed to the top of ITunes are already on my music shelf 😂🤳🏽 I’m trying to figure out why some having been sleeping on the great music and buying Lil Pump? 🤔 🤣

      😅 wondering the same here.

    • Wiggle May 3, 2020

Because of Spotify manipulation. For example Ed Sheeran is in 800 playlists made by Spotify. Did you see Michael Jackson in any majör playlist? Noo

“You Had Your Chance” “Lullaby” and of course “Subtle Invitation” stay in heavy rotation for me. An amazing album!!!

    Charmbracelet was really the starter.
The Emancipation Of Mimi was the Main course.
    EMC2 was the desert.

The lambs will have Rainbow, MOAIA, MIATEC & Caution hitting number one soon.
Let’s hope they can get one of her old singles to number 1 on billboard. Anything is possible as you’ve seen with AIWFCIY.

Charmbracelet’s single choices was doomed from the start.

IDJ should’ve released these in the following order:

    The One
    Lullaby
    Subtle Invitation
    Through The Rain
    My Saving Grace

I was buying everything starting with Daydream, and then this release became my most regrettable purchase from Mariah. I was so disappointed that it took me a little while before I bought the Emancipation album.

thru the rain dance remix is da s-h-I-t!!!

  7. Rashad May 2, 2020

Love MC but this is easily the worst album of her stellar career. Not a single song I love and Through the Rain is the only one deserving a repeat listen

    • Wiggle May 3, 2020

I only wanted is a classic ballad

This album was definitely a great body of work lyrically, however you tell that her heart was not in it she was very disconnected vocally, and I understand to a degree after the whole ordeal with glitter. These were still anti Mariah years. I will go on record and say Mariah has one of the best musical catalogs in all of music.

I’m just here for the Emancipation Of Mimi comments.

It was a good album. My top 3 songs
    1. You had your chance
    2. Clown
    3. Subtle Invitation
E=MC2 was her best album to date. I listened to that on repeat for months.

  11. #TheTruth May 2, 2020

It’s not her best album, some songs sound very dated, more dated that songs that are older.

But she’s got some great tracks here. It was a very intimate record. She used her breathy register way too much.

I love I Only Wanted and Clown.
I also like My Saving Grace Subtle Invitation, her cover of BOTH, The One (the remix version).

  12. Lmfao_Hoe May 2, 2020

Yasss Subtle Invitation stays on repeat

  13. MessyBoots May 2, 2020

I liked Charmbracelet but I didnt love it either.

Like others have pointed out her vocal damage is most present on this record. Thank God it improved on EOMM.

I didnt understand the Oh Boy I Need You sample.

The only songs I loved were Yours and the Eminem diss record Tears of a Clown.

    • Theman May 3, 2020

Not really, she was just doing a lot more whispering. She was still killin it though.

  14. Keith May 2, 2020

Subtle Invitation is my favorite Mariah track and stays in rotation over here!!!!

  15. Sean May 2, 2020

“Yours”, “The One”, “Clown” are the best tracks.

  16. Nippian May 2, 2020

THE ONE should ave been the first single.
    Followed by YOURS
    and YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE.

She left the best singles on the cutting room floor for that messy BOY I NEED YOU and boring THROUGH THE RAIN. Great album poor single choices.

I loved this album because she was so subdued.

    • MessyBoots May 3, 2020

Yessss to everything you stated. I forgot about The One. That was my favorite bop then and now.

The One should have been a first single.. absolutely.

  17. Gigi May 2, 2020

    The Songbird Supreme !

  18. 1988 May 2, 2020

*Dj Khaled voice* And another one….

    And I know what’s next. ;p

  19. Omar May 3, 2020

I certainly believe charmbracelet as some of the best vocal I have ever hear – especially “Through the rain”. JUSTICE FOR CHARMBRACELET. LOVE @ YOU MARIAH CAREY!!!

  20. Lamb hive May 3, 2020

Vegas residency has probably helped with the album sales
